Dawgs load the bases with nobody out, Bama changes pitchers
Stricklin pinch hits Connor Tate for Rogers and on the first pitch he doubles to left center

6-3 Dawgs with 2 on and nobody out

Embarrassing play ball coming off his glove, then falling backwards

What a fun season this has been been to watch! And two only lose two SEC series this year the TN one shouldn’t of happened but to the other was a legitimate good team and we could have probably won that series if Hancock was healthy

Glover comes on and closes this thing out.

9-4 Dawgs the final

The Dawgs have officially done something only 2 other UGA teams have ever done, winning 40 games a regular season.

Dawgs have clinched a first round bye in Hoover, another top 4 seed

40-14, 19-9

King Kudzu is pleased with the pants cakers tonight

I'm bummed that I wasn't able to catch the game. I haven't watched much baseball in recent years and it's good to watch some again. It's even nicer to the Dawgs playing well again.

I have a question, does baseball do a regular season and tournament champion?? UGA has a shot at having the best regular season record. Also congrats to them on the 40 wins

I'm pretty sure the answer is yes, similar to how it works in basketball.

I think we may have a mathematical chance at the regular season but it's probably like 1%, we would basically need the other teams at the top (vandy, MSU, ark) to start dropping games they likely aren't going to. Still fun to be up there though, I'm just glad we got a top 4 seed in the tourney and get an extra day rest.

Going to come down to regionals/Supers pairings (as well as any hiccups in those teams pitching rotations relative to when we play them) . This team is really inconsistent at the plate, so running into pure Ace pitching could be devastating. If we can make it to Omaha, the pitching and defense for this team could be really powerful there.

In basketball for most conferences, only one of those actually counts and goes in the record books. I would assume baseball is the same and only the tournament champ matters to the SEC.

I agree, but in Omaha wouldn't we run into some stout pitching ourselves? I'm not as concerned with our staff facing a solid top to bottom hitting lineup, but I'm terrified of our lineup going up against an ace pitcher.

In baseball, only tournament champ gets an AQ bid (I believe). Regular season champ is still recognized and arguably means more.

UGA can split the SEC regular season title by sweeping Bama, Vandy losing 2 to Kentucky, and Arkansas and MSU each losing 1 of their final 2.

In other words, the prize right now is a top 8 National seed and building confidence for the regional

Good news is Shepherd and Sullivan are starting to heat up. Meadows is in the tank for the year but at least has a decent OBP (can fight pitches and draw walks).

We aren’t a flashy offense but we get by and have a lot of plate experience and are pretty spread out in terms of power. Our strategy would be one of attrition, using our superior pitching to suppress the other offense and our batting approach to grind through the opposing pitching and bullpen.

This is exactly what I was thinking. Offensive approach likely becomes a little more passive... force pitches in the zone and fight off strikes with fouls... extend ABs as much as possible until we either get through the starter and into the relief or we get into scoring position with a good matchup at the plate...

The ballpark in Omaha seems to be built for grinding...
