i was at the game. It was hot but these guys play in heat all the time. There was no energy on the team, on the field or in the dugout. Winning the game and the SEC tourney is an accomplishment and these guys didn't look like they cared. I am disappointed in them.
Georgia hasn't won an SEC baseball title since 1954, and has never won the SEC tournament. They should have had pride enough to try to win it all. When I played we gave our all every game whether we won or not. I didn't see that today.
If Stricklin called this type of play, then Fire Stricklin!

I'm as serious as I can be. If the team has no interest in winning they shouldn't even play the game. A forfeit would have accomplished the same as this loss, and Hancock wouldn't have an injured finger to worry about in the regional.

frick off! So I don’t have 1000 posts. So now NOT winning a SEC CHAMPIONSHIP doesn’t matter unless it’s football! Then why have a Fire The coach thread. If you’re fine with the play today that is sad. I said earlier we need to get the bats hot and Ole Miss was out of pitching. But yet we lost. I’m not good with it.

SEC Tourney titles don't mean shite. It wouldn't be advantageous of us to throw out our best shite in risk of injury.

We're locked into a national seed and that's all we need to get to Omaha

I’m sure that’s what the softball team thought as well.
Win today or tomorrow, they’ll be throwing and practicing when they get back to Athens. Bad theory.

You think the team didn’t try? Get outta here with that.

We’re on our way to a top 8 seed which is what the goal is coming into the season. Hopefully we can close it out, and obviously I would have loved to win the SEC Tourney. But it’s not that important in the grand scheme of things.

We’ve won the SEC as recently as 2008

The regular season title means more as it typically correlates with a National seed which typically means Omaha is a realistic goal

The tournament title is nice for teams who are desperate and need the RPI boost down the stretch but most teams don’t waste the time and resources when there are much bigger fish to fry.

This isn’t a hard concept, y’all.

Have you ever practiced baseball before? Big difference facing a machine or BP pitching and live action from an opposing pitcher or hitter. Not to mention you want to keep guys scheduled and regimented in the work they put in. So going 2-1 against good competition Wednesday-Saturday is about as good a scenario as you can ask for going into next weekend: extra day of rest, typical workload for whole staff against quality bats, won at a neutral site. Now you get to go home and play where you’ve been winning all year

Can't find it now...i thought I read somewhere that today some postseason stuff was announced (can't remember what specifically, maybe the top 8?) And tomorrow the full schedule would be announced. Is that right? And what time today does stuff come out

They usually announce the 16 host sights on twitter after the championships wrap up tonight and then the specific seedlings tomorrow

It’s a weird format. It’s single elimination on Tuesday, double on Wednesday and Thursday, then back to single Friday-Sunday

Thanks! I've never really watched it until this year.

The point I’m trying to make is, if you can’t win with what ya got in Hoover how do you expect to win the Natty? To be the best you gotta beat the best! or the 1 loss team that’s out of pitching in the regional tourney.

This isn't football. Teams that didn't win their conference tournament win the national title all the time in basketball and baseball. Virginia lost in the ACC tournament semis and won the national title in basketball this year.

Put it this way: UGA will get the exact same seed no matter if we lost yesterday or won today. The only thing different is 1. We use more arms on shorter rest to win on Sunday and 2. Get a trophy that most other teams shrug their shoulders at. Omaha is the only thing that truly matters in college baseball. Hell, the Pac12 doesn’t even hVe a tournament and every conference formats their tournament differently. There’s a reason the selection committee makes most of its hosting decisions before the tournaments even get to Saturday

Will do one last full projection after the games today, but here are my seedings before all the championships.

Not much changed since yesterday. Its the same 16 hosts. North Carolina and Miami swapped with North Carolina winning convincingly again in the ACC semifinals. West Virginia moves up one with more top 25 wins, and Oregon State drops with a series loss against USC.

1.UCLA vs 16.Miami
2.Vanderbilt vs 15.Oregon State
3.Mississippi State vs 14.North Carolina
4.Georgia vs 13.East Carolina
5.Arkansas vs 12.LSU
6.Georgia Tech vs 11.West Virginia
7.Oklahoma State vs 10.Stanford
8.Louisville vs 9.Texas Tech

Gee. I bet we would get a top 8 seed, or maybe even a 5 or 6, if we beat Ole Miss and Vandy. Going into the regionals with a win, and maybe some hot hitting to go with our pitching, would give the team a boost. If you have ever played competitively you know I'm right.
