I see teams all the time put all they have into trying to put points on the board before half time. no matter what. Hail marys 55 yard FG's, whatever.

Does it drive you up the damn wall when we take a knee with 35 seconds left? We dont even try.

Not this year. It would just end up being a pick 6.

Just shows how our coaches have 0 confidence in Lambert to protect the ball or move at all when teams know we are passing.

its situational...not always worth it. Too many factors in determining whether or not to go for it.

Peyton Manning was in a similar situation a few years ago, but in the 4th. Coach decided to kneel on it. They lost. Was a playoff game IIRC. DUMBASS MOVE. Doesn't really matter for us this year though. We can barely score 14 in 4 quarters... you think we have a chance at a score in 60 seconds? ???

If you're specifically referring to the end of the half against Ga Southern, I have no issue with that call. We had planned on going for it but the penalty on the punt put us too far back to feel comfortable to put any faith in lambert. That's pick 6 territory right there. We would have gone for it if we had better field position.

No it's pissed me off for a while honestly. Thought there were others that felt we're too conservative.

It's not anything new. We've had that mindset for 15 years

I believe you're talking about the 2012 Ravens at Broncos playoff game. Baltimore had just hit a miraculous 70 yard TD with about :20 left. Peyton really wasn't playing all that well, and it was about 8 degrees in Denver that day (the two aren't unrelated, btw). 20 seconds, one timeout, needing at least 50 yards for a realistic FG shot, taking the knee may actually have been the right move.

One of the best playoff games in NFL history, by the way.

That's it but i thought there was more time on the clock. And iirc he ways having one of his best years ever. You are probably right on specifics but I remember very vividly that I thought it was a bad move with.. and it ended up costing them..

In Tom Brady's first Super Bowl against St. Louis the Patriots got the ball back at their 20 with a few seconds left. John Madden was commentating and said that the Patriots should play for overtime and not take a chance.

Not being complete idiots, Brady and Belichick were aggressive and started advancing the ball with sideline passes. Madden was apoplectic with objections and he looked like an idiot when Vinatieri nailed the game winning field goal.

I want my team to try to win.

Richt has always been a moron (but I probably support him over the next moron).

Big, big difference between a few seconds that you said and the 1:30ish that they actually had. They would have played for OT if there were a few seconds left.

It's completely situational. If you have no timeouts, and your on your own 20, just kneel. The thing that pisses me off more than anything is when teams just run the ball with 15 seconds left to pad stats and then go to the locker room. Best case scenario is going to the locker room. Worst case is fumbling the ball. Makes zero sense.

Richt takes the easy, safe decision probably over 90% of the time
