Maybe he's trolling Tom Loy on 247. Day before signing day Loy chimed in on a UGA board fan thread and said he thought QB Montgomery was gone to UF. Pretty sure that was wishcasting on Loy's part.

More to do with the position he would play.

Was told he'd probably be a NT and doesn't want to play there.

Texas

Pretty rough one. Kirby has been recruiting him since middle school.

Texas reportedly came in with a stupid offer last night. Same thing happened with Caleb Downs, too.

I've about had it with this unfettered NIL.

EDIT: Supposedly $1M upfront and $1.5M per year over 3 years.

Pen has already met paper, presumably.

The current situation was always the outcome from the moment that NIL became legal. It's amazing that many fans initially denied that reality. Unfortunately, upcoming court rulings won't end unfettered NIL, also known as boosters buying recruits and transfers. Revenue sharing won't stop boosters or lessen their impact. The NCAA is obviously powerless to do anything.

There's only one way to end the era of boosters buying a roster and looting other rosters. It's a solution that fans will deny and reject until it's 100% obvious there's no other viable choice: anti-trust exemption and an NFL style draft (for HS recruits), contract, free agency and collective bargaining system. Until that happens, what we have now will effectively be the status quo.

Edit: there is one other solution that will be even less popular and may not work. Force the NFL to end the time requirement for draft eligibility, players eligible immediately after HS. Then go back to court and try to re-establish the amateur-only status of college football. The argument would be that players have a path to earning money, simply turn pro. If you're not good enough to get hired by the NFL, take the equivalent of an unpaid internship and start building your resume.

I would rather see the NFL establish a G league similar to the NBA.

Don’t waste colleges time or money.

Many of these kids don’t give two shits about the college they sign with or education.

Looking at this class, it’s great in a few spots (Edge, Interior OL, safety/nickel, TE, WR) but seriously lacking in others. Really needed another top interior DL to pair with Griffin, and whiffing on all three of Terry, Wynn, and Garrett in state is hard to spin. Also lacking at OT and only one true corner (Kelly) who was a reclass from 2026 and will likely need some time.

My long term concern is that OT, DT, and CB are expensive positions. Especially OT, where we haven’t really been in the mix for the top guys nationally for several years now.

NFLPA will never agree to any of the above suggestions.

Better route would be to fix college football rather than counting on change from the NFL.

Sucks that we probably could have got Wynn with the Terry NIL offer.

Maybe so. But the NBA precedent has been set.

It’s another option. It’s not like they’re going to expand rosters or number of rounds of the draft.

Not getting Terry hurts and he may be a stud but we will be fine.

Agreed.

Griffin was the prize of this class and that will play out.

I can see Terry being back in the portal w/in 2 years

We got Gibson too… and Walker. Terry was just gonna be the cherry on top.

I trust Kirby with this NIL stuff. We made very competitive offers for Downs, Terry, and Bolden and hit 1/3. You gotta be able to make your offer comparable but some of these supposed offers are absolutely ludicrous.

Gotta think some of these ballooning offers would soften but seems to still be rising in the NIL era.
