I’m not sure I’d say 25 as that would put him at like 240 but he definitely looks more toned

These two look like a pair of bookends. A heavy dose of 2 and 3 is exactly what the doctor ordered.

I found this comment from Ameer Speed very interesting

'Speed praises Muschamp for the work he has done with the young players.'

So Muschamp got his hands on the defense?

He's kind of overdue for spontaneous human combustion.

Hopefully Jones steps up at LT. Not excited to hear that Truss has been running with the 1's for the vast majority of reps.

Yeah haven’t even made it to the first scrimmage yet. Plenty of time for Jones to come along. Word seems to be that his pass blocking is solid but his run blocking needs serious work which is why he hasn’t beaten out Truss. That aspect of his game will improve with more reps.

So reportedly big 0 intends to play somewhere around 280 this year. If we don’t force feed him some in the red zone we’re doing it wrong.

Salyer on Broderick Jones- "You talking about somebody that can just protect like something I've never seen before. He's one of the dudes that just go it. He can pass protect like, like seriously really good.........he's gotta work on some small things. He's gotta just stay in the weight room."
@7:00 minute mark

"Broderick Jones is a talent at left tackle, but he’s yet to gain the weight and develop the sort of power that made Andrew Thomas a force from the time he stepped foot on campus."

The 6-foot-7, 330-pound Truss has the prototypical size to play left tackle, but he has yet to display the sort of grit and emotion to have an edge against the elite pass rushers in the SEC.

Kirby on Xavier Truss
“He has been out there this spring competing, (and) I think he is doing a lot better with the mental side of things, like picking it up,” Smart said. “Coach (Matt) Luke really challenges him to play with more energy and more passion. He is one of those guys who doesn’t really show it a lot.

“He doesn’t play with a lot of emotion, and sometimes you want that emotion to come out and show some personality when you have a good block and when you compete really hard, but he has gained a lot of confidence.”

Georgia signed 5-star prospect Broderick Jones in the 2020 class, and Jones is said to have great footwork but still lack the necessary strength and power to handle the position.

Amarius Mims (6-7, 330) was the 5-star signee in the 2021 class, and once this true freshman gets up to speed and familiar with the playbook he’ll be starting somewhere.

McClendon was a freshman all-American. If Mims is good enough to replace him immediately, that would be exciting.

The way things are progressing Mims will man one tackle spot and Mcclendon the other. And I'll be just fine with that.

Mims will definitely get a good crack at the lineup.

I dont expect him out there against clemson. Crazier things have happened (andrew thomas being a june enrollee starting as a true freshman against App St and Notre Dame). Im thinking we have midyear shakeups on the OL.

Do y'all remember when Matt Landers created all that buzz in practice and Kirby was constantly bring his name up in post practice news conferences? Then we got okie doked. Adonai Mitchell is getting that kind of buzz. The only reason I'm skeptical is because Terrance Edwards is pushing that buzz too.

I had a lot of ppl reach out to me after I went to UGA’s practice on Thursday trying to get information. Well, here's a tidbit for you. Adonai Mitchell is going to shock a lot of ppl. #TEwracademy

quote:

Rising Stock Watch: A freshman receiver who is starting to be talked about is Adonai Mitchell, a 6-4, 190-pounder whose modest recruiting rankings had kept him somewhat under the radar. This, even though Texas, Auburn, Arkansas and Ole Miss all offered, and he was actually committed to Lane Kiffin’s Rebels. One thing is for certain, Monken and Daniels don’t care about his 3-star ranking so much as the fact it appears he can get open and catch the ball consistently. Stay tuned

quote:

Did Georgia get a steal in the three-star wide receiver from Tennessee? The early chatter suggests that is the case. Mitchell is listed at 6-foot-4 195 pounds, making him one of the biggest receivers on the roster. But he's more than just a jump-ball artist. He's a smooth route runner with the ability to explode out of his breaks. He also has the speed to get behind the defense and the body control to make the tough catches. He's only going to improve as a route runner but he has to push through the wall most freshman hit soon after they begin practicing.

Ive read that he is a great route runner (not as good as Burton, but possibly better than everyone else). To do that with a 6'3"-6'4" frame?

He has a long way to go to learn the playbook. And a few balls are hitting the turf. But he can push for some targets at the X position. With all of the talent that we have, that is saying a lot.

Landers had the hands of a scarecrow and the depth perception of a rhino. It's incredible the depth Kirby and co. have created from the the days of Cager and that wr corp.

I walked by the practice field today. They were GETTING AFTER IT. I could hear them from Foley. Kirby was up in the tower heckling them on the PA. It was awesome.

That’s NEVER good. We need a unit to play every game together. Regardless... doesn’t matter who’s in front of them, you play Mims and Jones.
