He plays a little too high but I only watched 90 seconds of his tape.

Little bit of basketball news:

5* SG Aminu Mohammed is deciding between Indiana, Georgetown, Georgia, and Kansas State

He wants to enroll for spring semester, which means he will be playing this season. Unfortunately, until now, there is not a scholarship available for him. Georgia sophomore Jaykwon Walton just put his name in the transfer portal, which is extremely strange two games into the season.

Might be reading too much in between the lines here, but Georgia might’ve forced Walton out and we could be making room for Aminu.

I don’t think it’s unfair to act like he was recruiting poorly up until last year. But he’s been killing it since then.

Well... he was hired 2/10/2017 (9 days after national signing day)

He signed jordan davis in 2018.

He signed travon walker in 2019.

He signed jalen carter in 2020.

He has Jonathan Jefferson/Ingram-Dawkins on board for 2021 and Tyre West for 2022.

He also as the Tennessee 3 from 2019 (expect to see more of them next year as upperclassmen).

He has home runs every year.
You are obviously being unfair.

If you want to bitch about the 2013, 2014, or other subsequent classes... go right ahead

I don't follow our basketball team. Is this a big loss if we don't land Mohammed?

Ehhh kind of.

He was the #82 player in the country coming out of high school, which is really good for Georgia.

His freshman year he really only played in garbage time. This year he’s part of the bench rotation but only got 5 minutes or so in each game.

Think of it as the basketball version of losing Deangelo Gibbs. A lot of talent and upside but never really showed any sign of putting it together.

I really wish our fanbase would get more invested in basketball. It’s a nice break from the high expectations of our football team. You can watch and enjoy the games without expecting anything. Getting to know the players is the most important part to enjoying it.

Georgia’s current PG is Sahvir Wheeler. He’s 5’9” and fast as hell. Too short and not a good enough shooter for the NBA but he’s fun to watch because he’s great at getting to the basket and has gotten 10 and 12 assists in his first two games.

He’s 2 games into his sophomore year and is on track for 567 career assists, which would beat the current record holder by nearly 100. He also didn’t start until halfway through last year.

It’s fun to watch guys like him and JJ Frazier come to UGA and give their all to our program for 4 years. I kinda envy South Carolina in the way that their fans are crazy for them and their players no matter how bad they are. I wish our fanbase was like them in basketball.

I don't know if this is a complement or criticism

I think if he can grow into his frame, and show a little more burst, he can add to his game and be a dynamic pass threat. If he doesn't grow into the frame and doesn't add to the repertoire, I fear that he'll be a little too much one trick pony-ish at the college level with regards to rushing the passer. As Porter noted, he plays a little high also... but these are growth areas... Generally, I'm high on the pickup personally.

Can watch him play against Upson-Lee this weekend. If win that game will play North Hall or GACS. Applings first loss was the last regular season game against Pearce County. Don't know what happened. Supposedly some fighting going on between parents and a coach or two. Anyway, maybe they got it squared away and can make a run in the playoffs.

You saying he is going to suit up and play in January? Buddy needs to commit pretty much now then, right?

Really happy to see us recruiting a 5 star from DC against Indiana and Georgetown. Crean is definitely steering this program in the right direction.

I dont disagree with that up to this point. But I dont write off underclassmen based upon their contributions in the trenches.

John atkins, malik herring, Abry Jones... all of these guys didnt have major contributions as underclassmen but were very good to great college players.

Sorry I have no idea, I'm not an OG. I was just making a joke because that's what he always says. "I just dropped a nugget for the OGs over on patreon..."

Get ready for a huge melt from Tiger fans. Arik Gilbert is supposedly homesick and might enter the portal

Homesick? Lol.

How far from Athens to Rome? Hour and a half or so?

ETA
The position is underutilized here recently, but that's changing. I think Athens could end up a great fit if he comes.
