This staff has made us more than a cap on the table the past few years, so we should tune in for sure.

The new WR offer, Jontavis Robertson is a pretty underrated prospect in my opinion. He may not be the tallest guy, but he’s able to get open and can get up over everyone despite his lack of heigh. Listed at 5’11”, but I think he’s every bit as tall as Dominick Blaylock. He’s also got terrific ball skills and able to high point the ball in traffic.

Might have to walk back my 3* comment.
Good to see a Middle Ga. kid getting attention.

In-home visits next week and the list of visitors next weekend will be the main things to watch. Wouldn't expect Theo Johnson to get a visit now that he's committing Monday.

I can't imagine why he would commit here.

Not sure if they're bringing alcohol or not.

Washington and Beck have been recruiting him really hard so there's always a chance, but leaning towards Michigan or Penn State here. PSU has been in it the longest while Michigan is closer to home. Something will more than likely pop up on this today if he starts calling coaches.

About what I figured. With our OC and QB, combined with the fact that we rarely involve the TE, why come here?

If it's Bobo the OC hire should be made immediately if only for the sake of recruiting.

Americus, what's up with in state recruiting?

I'm licking my wounds and depressed, so apologies for a lame question.

But if it holds it looks like we will be 4 for 50 on the instate top 25 over the past two years. I know we can't get everyone, but some of those guys are in positions of need. Just curious what's going on with missing some big in state guys at thin positions.

We all are bud. I do think most saw this coming and that makes it more frustrating. Mostly because of the recent recruiting efforts and amount of talent on the roster.

You raise a good question though. Georgia, along with Florida, Texas and California are the elite recruiting areas. You could argue that select areas in Georgia produce more D1 talent than all states collectively in the SEC, excluding Florida, Texas, and Louisiana.

Recent years have seen the top prospects from other states brought in. New York, Rhode Island, Tennessee, Alabama, Mississippi, the Carolinas, Maryland, Texas, of course Florida, Illinois (briefly lol), etc......
After "locking down" instate talent early in Kirby's era, it seems a concentrated effort to nationalize the "brand". Going into even more states out west (Arizona, Utah, Nevada) and even Canada. Just targeting kids everywhere when we see teams in the playoffs with players from Georgia.

Again great question, but it can only be answered I'm afraid by asking more questions.

Are we spreading ourselves too thin across the country to focus on instate talent?
How many of the top prospects in Georgia, have grown up seeing Georgia contend... and are not even recruited as we target those elsewhere?
If so, are we burning bridges with high school programs here at home?

With that said, I think we pull Washington, Ringo, Reed, Smith and are in it for several others..... the majority from states not named Georgia.

Our WRs are not as bad as they look. They run poor routes, but they have a certain amount of speed, and decent hands. Once they mature and elarn the proper way to structure their routes, they will be fine. But, we have a couple committed that look good, too. With time we will be good to go at WR.

I am more worried about RB next year. We have gotten limited looks at McIntosh and White. White charging up the middle and McIntosh in cleanup roles.

I suspect White is still recovering from his injuries and has a hard time making cuts, so he went up the middle more often than not. We might be ok, but we have a very limited view of what we will have next year. Honestly, Cook concerns me a bit. he had trouble holding on to the ball last year, and seems to go down on first contact a lot. Great speed, but he needs some more bulk.

With decent offensive coaching, our receivers would magically look a lot better.

Hoping against hope that we burn it to the ground in the offensive side of the ball. That’s the worst Georgia offense I’ve ever seen.

A very real possibility. But you have to look at the WR coach, too. He should be teaching them proper technique, route structure, reading DBs, blocking, etc.

It may not be on the OC at all, but obviously he does play a part, too. But it doesn't matter what plays are called, if the WR's are hugging the sidelines when they run their routes, no play call is going to look good.

If the WRs are set on doing the things the same way they did in high school it can also make a coaches job hard.

It's been a rough year, no doubt.

Blaylock is not likely going to be 100% in 2020, even if he is cleared by July or August. So that makes Pickens the one potential game changer currently on the roster.

Kearis seems to have potential - maybe he makes a big jump by next year. Tommy Bush was highly touted coming in but obviously we could never get a sense of his ceiling since he didn't play until Georgia Tech.

Mikaya Tongue was a 4-star athlete with NFL bloodlines but clearly there was a reason he redshirted. Not sure what to expect from him. Is he even staying at WR?

I have little faith in Landers at this point.

So overall, it seems like this is a place where Kirby could point to opportunities for someone to come in make an immediate impact. My question to you recruiting experts is: Why do we not have any 5-start types hooked in for 2020? I know about Rosemy but looks like the top shelf WRs are bound for Ohio State, Clemson, LSu... Where's our Fleming or Jarrett? Can Kirby flip anyone the way he did Pickens?

I wouldn't be a bit surprised to see Robertson come back and have Kearis Jackson take a big step forward. If Bush can stay healthy he could slo contribute....if he has been watching and learning while he was shelved.

I have to admit that he has been a disappointment...even as a 3*.
