I feel like he's done

Needed to add quite a bit of weight and that unfortunately got derailed.
Heard he was doing well and enjoys being there. I'd guess medical scholly though.

If you've been around the program for a couple of years, and still haven't made an impact enough to the point that the staff had recruited around you, I'd argue that you probably need to swim in a smaller pond.
How can you reconcile this with the alleged value of a football scholarship?

If there is a chance at all I'd love to see him get a shot but, yea, I am not sure how ya come back from brain surgery. Even with that I think you nailed it. Dude was a project when he came here and he lost an entire year not only building up his body but developing. Dude was a string bean and was incredibly raw to start off and I have to imagine he's probably right there still.
That being said, if he comes back and wins the job somehow then Gameday is gonna talk about it A LOT.

Jim Donnan hands out lots of compliments. He said nice things about Mathis' development. In a way, he was complimenting Coley with the improvement, but he specifically talked about Mathis now versus the spring.
Take it for what it is worth (James Deloach and Matt Landers have been recipients of impressive practice compliments that hadn't shown on the field).
Edit to add: donnan was the first I heard within the Georgia program to talk about Cager within this offense. So there could be some weight to his Mathis review.

Where can I listen to Donnan saying all of this?

Hasn't he been doing everything non contact since Fall camp? Has he not been part of the S&C program as well?
He's also been going to all the Non/Wed meetings along with film work.
At the very minimum it looks like he'll be prepared mentally and physically when he finally gets his clearence.

Like who?I'm not sure I've seen one person
on here who's been saying this.I know several that are hoping he comes back but
it doesn't sound very good if Americus is saying it.

Donnan and Radi do a weekly Facebook Live/ podcast/Q&A/etc. It's really informative.

I saw one dude just the other day saying they thought Mathis was the favorite to take over for Fromm. Wasn't even saying 2021, he was saying next season.
He aint the only one Ive seen posting about Mathis as if they forgot he had a friggin cyst on his brain.

That was no "cyst". That was a brain abscess. You don't get IV antibiotics for 6 weeks after a "cyst". And I don't see him ever being medically cleared for contact after a craniotomy.

I'll take your word for it, Doc

Are you sure, because multiple sources reported it was identified as a cyst, or a buildup of fluid between the skull and brain?

On here? Sorry haven't seen it.

Lots of folks have been curious about his progress especially since he's doing everything non contact with the team this Fall.
Why wouldn't he get a medical hardship after the surgery?

Maybe you could elaborate on this? Several articles cite a "cyst" and Dawgnation called it "fluid buildup between the brain and skull". Was there a definitive diagnosis out out? Do both drive a different procedure?

The initial article I read said he had been suffering from a sinus infection before this surgery
"Mathis, an early enrollee from Romulus, Mich, had experienced severe sinus pain brought on by the change in climate, according to his father, Terence Mathis. The sinus issue led to the discovery of the cyst."
There was an article with a quote from Kirby saying Mathis had completed his 6 weeks of antibiotics and was cleared to classes and non contact workouts.
Brain abscess is known complication/sequelae of frontal sinus infections. And you don't give antibiotics for a simple cyst removal, definitely not 6 week worth.
It has never been reported as an abscess. But medically an abscess is what makes sense. The surgery is the same. You still have to cut open someone's skull and remove it. So the chance of him playing football again is the same for both conditions.
