I'm just personally biased towards the band-aid on the bullet wound approach. Especially at QB. Too many 3-4 year starters in the past I guess. Mixed in with the everyone's fondness of the transfer portal and my southern reluctance of change.
Still takes me until Halloween to figure out the replay, kickoff and targeting changes every year.

Sure, I’m enamored with the successes of Burrow, Fields, and OU’s slew of transfers. And despite my constant posts about these guys I know they aren’t close to the caliber of the aforementioned (maybe King but I doubt it). I just hate to see 2020 hampered by Beck or Bennett especially when I’m not sold that either, mainly Beck, is gonna be the guy.

Normally I am as well, however because of the Fields transfer we have no choice. Beck needs competition.

I get that. I started watching film on King when Trask got playing time at Floriduh.
Hopefully soon worries can be put to rest, then flare right back up again

I still dont think we are on the same page. Ringo has hinted that the paperwork has been signed. No?

I wasn't talking about Ringo or Washington specifically. People were saying that Ringo appeared to have signed and I was saying all of them should have to give broad notification if they sign. Not necessarily to the fans, but with another month and half to go, all coaches should be told which recruits can still be recruited. No need to waste their time evaluating players who aren't available.

Maybe they do have a coaches-only database of who has signed, but I've never seen a coach or recruiting pundit explain it in those terms.

Like dude said, if the team didn't get the fax, then they know they're not signing the player and then they can move on. Player doesnt NEED to tell them (though it would probably be proper).

so last year with 25 recruits we had a 92.59 player average. This year with only 19 recruits we have a 93.65 (tied with Clemson for highest) with two 99+ recruits not in that number. Seems like a quality year to me despite what some on here want to whine about

It's a great class. I'd like at least one big time defensive tackle. Most are forgetting Broderick Jones and SVP. Imagine if we can hold onto them and get Ringo and Washington. Being the pessimist, I'm not holding my breath on them until we find out they signed with us.

Let's say Oregon calls Ringo up. He then tells them that it is in. No, ringo didn't initiate the call. But it isnt like Oregon will be wasting valuable resources for the next 2 weeks. I'm sure oregon has an unlimited call plan and can make 1 phone call with ease

It's a dead period. Schools can't contact recruits.

Ringo would have to call the schools and tell them his paperwork is in.

Thanks for the correction. But the point still stands. Coaches arent going to spend resources recruiting someone who will verbalize his LOI in a week. There isnt any wasted energy

If we get Ringo and Washington, I will overjoyed but we still need a top QB prospect to replace Fromm when he leaves.

Beck should be that guy but lot of trepidation that he would be ready to play in 2020.

He can play. With the weapons UGA has he can have some success.

People are overlooking Mathis, though. Taller, stronger, a bit more mobile. If he has improved his accuracy after so much time practicing with the team, I'd have to assume Mathis is the leader in the clubhouse.
