Stetson Bennett returned, and I believe on scholarship this time, so I think he counts against our number this year and technically makes it 2 qbs we signed.

Correct. We have 2 scholarship QBs in this class, Bennett and Mathis. Bennett is clearly not the answer for replacing Fromm one day, but I think he’ll do alright as a backup and he already knows the offense. I like what Mathis brings to the table from an athletic standpoint, he just needs to be developed a little more.
For the record, I do not think Plumlee will ever be a starting QB, even if he chooses football over the MLB. I think he’s athletic enough to be a starter somewhere on the field in the SEC, but he’s not a QB anywhere except maybe Auburn, if Malzahn got back to his roots.

I'll keep this thread updated and add film of the players as that comes out so let's not delete this right after NSD like normal if that's ok.
I'll start 2020 soon enough.

Thanks for your work on it. I don’t have much to add but definitely rely on it for updates.

Are we using this thread for commits or starting a signing day thread? I'll be at work and unable to follow anything live.

It sounds like today is going to be uneventful. No Cross. No Elam. Maybe Brett Seither but nothing to track throughout the day

No matter what happens today you can look back at the last 3 recruiting classes and count to 3 .....1(2018) - 2(2019) - 3(2017)

It's worth remembering we already have 14 guys from this class already ENROLLED and on campus participating in the offseason workouts (most in the SEC). Just them alone would still be a top 15 class.

We're all set. I will just miss having something to track today

Been kind of a wild day already. Khris Bogle flipped to UF and Doug Nester flipped to VT. Mingo signed with Ole Miss and Pickens is signing at 10am off campus away from teammates. Not sure what's going on there.
If UF gets Elam (and that looks likely), it'll be a good day for them

Congrats to UF for riding the momentum from yheir bowl win. If only our guys gave a shite about the sugar bowl

With Bogle's flip to UF, Bama's recruiting average just dipped 0.01 below our 2018 average

Ah, another boring NSD in Athens. :-)

This is in response to Bama fans talking about this years class could be their best class in Saban's era.

Obviously wish we were in it, but losing Mel hurt us with two of the guys we really wanted today.
Oh well. Solid class and can’t wait to see how they perform on the field.

Pickens just flipped to the good guys!
Posted on 2/6/19 at 9:16 am to dallasga6
Ok. I was wrong
5* WR just signed with UGA
That being said, we’re going to need to see a lot of improvement in schoolwork to get him in Athens over the next couple years so I’m not overly excited about it yet.

He's rated as the nation's No. 24 overall prospect and No. 4 wide receiver. He's also the No. 1 player in Alabama. His commitment gives UGA the top two players in the Yellow Hammer State with five-star center Clay Webb already on Georgia's campus as an early enrollee.
