Who did this? I highly doubt any Bama fan here even knows DJ Williams is visiting Georgia this weekend.

Looking back at the thread, it was actually a Florida poster. So, my apologies!

All of these recruiting battles between Alabama and Georgia are cool and all, but let's be real. When that group on the Plains is clicking recruiting rankings don't mean shite. It's fricking crazy how they can overcome a talent differential with a little momentum and home field advantage.

Auburn is kind of its own thing relative to y'all, though. Auburn is always going to pose this weird sort of unclassifiable threat, the same way Tech does for us. Everyone else could look at these games from the outside and not understand why we feel the nervousness and anxiety that we do when, on paper, we clearly overmatch them.

I'm talking about Bama finally having a consistent challenge on their hands both in recruiting and play on the field. It's been since about 2011 since a team other than the occasional Auburn rivalry-fueled foul up has challenged Bama with any sort of consistency. The only team from the East to do it was Florida in 08 and 09 and that was as infamously short-lived as it was unsustainable with all of the discipline issues that were oozing out.

You are living in the past as regards Auburn. I guess that's understandable but I will be amazed if they are a threat for the next three years.

I don't doubt that Alabama fans will always fear Auburn more as they're the only team that's given Bama trouble over the last 8-10 years.

But Auburn is trending in a very very bad direction with their football program

The emergence of UGA with Kirby spells doom for Auburn going forward. The Barners aren't going to be a threat to either UGA or Bama. Kirby cut off their air supply.

That's not what TideSaint is doing. I've been plenty critical of Kirby at times, but he has done some amazing things at Georgia. One of his most amazing accomplishments is transforming the previously unhealthy Barn-Bammer rivalry into a mutual admiration society. They start more threads on the rant about UGA than they do each other. They secretly, sometimes openly, root for their erstwhile bitter rivals to outplay UGA in critical games. They follow our recruiting on a daily basis, and then say things like "I highly doubt any Bama fan here even knows DJ Williams is visiting Georgia this weekend." Well, at least one does.

For the first time ever, estranged inbred cousins have overcome their differences in the face of a common threat. Yeah, sure, TideSaint fears Auburn (a team Georgia owns) and their lame duck head coach more than UGA, but for some reason he hangs out on a Georgia recruiting thread telling us all about the Tahd's recruiting exploits and correcting our misplaced optimism. And next time Auburn wins the west, Bammer fans will repay the recent support of their trailer park neighbors with a big ole War Eagle as they face off against UGA.

I'm sorry but that's just plain insane. Tide and all see it coming, they can run their mouths all they want this year because they beat us (led 9 plays in 2 games), but this is the end. Saban will retire as Kirby's b1tch, mark it. We pushed their sh1t in on both lines with freshmen and sophomores. The SEC championship was a much better sign than last year's natty - I felt like Bama was a much better team last January, not so much this December. And when Kirby finally gets the throat, there's no looking back. Lick on Auburn all you want, it's UGA that will end Bama's reign and everyone knows it.

They’re a pain in the arse, sure. But they’re not a threat and won’t be for a while. Whatever you have to do to convince yourself that Georgia isn’t going to challenge and probably beat Bama for the foreseeable future I guess.

I don't get it. I mean, if we took a poll of Georgia fans, probably most would say GT is our biggest rival. And from a talent perspective, or from results on the field, they have not posed a serious threat in some time.

Why is it so hard for people to believe Auburn is Alabama's biggest rival/threat, in their minds? We haven't beaten Alabama. Auburn has. They are fully aware we have come uncomfortably close twice. But until we beat them....

Let me tell you why. Auburn cant run Gus' offense without being able to run the ball up the middle. And Auburn cant run the ball up the middle. What's going to change that? World-beater RB? Nope. New o-line? Nope.

There’s not a whole lot happening between now and next Wednesday. Lot of supposition and opinions but there’s not going to be anything to really confirm those opinions until next week.

While I appreciate your perspective, I find it interesting that Georgia and Alabama both lost in Jordon-Hare Stadium. Translation: Auburn has the best home-cookin' advantage money can buy. I'm not one to bitch about officiating but the calls were so one-sided in both of those games that it defies any other explanation. Georgia went on to blowout Auburn in Atlanta and of course Bama won the NCG vs Georgia in one of the best national championship games ever.
Don't get me wrong, Auburn can definitely play the spoiler and their team and fans are fervent but shite like Nick Fairley spearing Aaron Murray in the back has always led me to believe that Auburn has been getting away with dirty play for a long time.

Auburn doesn’t hire the refs. Alabama* does.

Auburn won because they had home field momentum and a running back that could make 5 yard runs out of nothing which set up the rest of their offense.
