Recruiting will be a lot less interesting come the new year. I don't see much of an issue, I mean we're talking about moving it up 6 weeks. I'd say 80% of recruits usually know where there going by that time anyway, so it's only going to affect a small portion. Even for the uncommitted prospects in that remaining 20%, a good bit are just enjoying the process. I'm indifferent on the change

Not all weeks are created equal. That particular six weeks is in the middle of the coaching carousel.
Also, a lot happens at the end of the process for kids looking at Group of 5 and FCS schools. I'm not worried about 4*/5*s really.

Players still have the option to wait until the first week of February. Sure, they're at risk of losing their spot, especially the 2*/3* players. I'm not going to sit and claim early signing day benefits the kids, but there is a lot of gray areas. Again, I think we're focusing on the minority of signees. Does it hurt those lower level players? Absolutely, but these dates are merely suggested. If a player wants to wait until the summer after his senior year, he has that right. This new rule will benefit the recruiting juggernauts, but It will also benefits the lower level teams from having their players poached when the big boys lose out on a big time prospect. You're right schools benefit more, but a lot of the "processing" of players will tone down IMO. There is always good with bad, and vice versa. FTR, I agree with your points, I'm playing devils advocate.
I will say, it hurts academic schools such as Stanford when a kid has borderline grades. Do they wait until February to sign or take a full ride that is available from another school? Those schools will suffer the most. High level academic schools have a rigorous application process, and this new timeline hurts big time.

last 4 CBs for Salyer have gone to Clemson
quote:
Atlanta (Ga.) Pace Academy five-star offensive lineman Jamaree Salyer has not made a commitment yet, and many teems are actively recruiting the nation’s No. 7 overall recruit in the 2018 class.
Salyer visited Georgia last month and Clemson the month before that. He was also recently visited by Alabama assistant coach, Brent Key.
It appears that the Tigers might be making some inroads. Three predictions have come in today in Salyer’s 247Sports Crystal Ball, and they are forecasting him committing to Clemson.

Should we start to panic yet?

frick the people who wanted Clemson to win the CFP over Bama. Dabo is dangerous as hell when he's working with that kind of momentum.

Considering '19 is starting to look a little less lucrative with all the FSU stuff, is say that's very reasonable.

That whole concept was stupid. "Well I just want someone else to win." Idiots.

Yeah, adding another school from bordering state to this list of teams with a National Title within the last decade is a great thing for our program.
Clemson won by using an illegal play twice. frick them.

If Kirby doesn't at least make the SECCG this year, we are in deep shite

I don't disagree. This year's team has a ton of talent, too much not to at least rock the boat on the national scene (i.e. play for a conference title and consideration for a NYE game). If he can't win the East after UT graduates most everyone worth a damn, USC still in the midst of a big rebuild, and Florida continuing to step on it's own dick offensively, then I think there will, justifiably, be questions about Kirby's ability to run a program. That's not something you want hanging over the program with one of the deepest classes in the state's history on the horizon.

Also, you can add a loaded defense and our stable of running backs into the equation.

If opposing defenses sell out to stop the run and we respond by run, run, pass, punt on every series folks will be mad as hell.

How so?

Because our recruiting is already starting to dip and if recruits don't have reason to believe Kirby can actually have success on the field, that dip could turn into a nose dive.
I don't think we necessarily HAVE to make the SECCG, but I do think we have to win 9+ regular season games and get some big time wins.
Kirby hasn't shown or proven shite to anybody yet.

Recruits are looking at our depth chart and sales pitch and playing wait and see. Better show them something or Clemson is going to run train on this class

100% agree. I would say a caveat to the Clemson run is that if we can put a decent season together and are on the upswing while Clemson falls back without Watson, Boulware, Williams, and some of those other key players it might be a different story for the recruits on the fence.

Clemson playing the long con, though. They have a young coach with a title to his name and brand new facilities to tout. Their sales pitch is pure gold right now.
If we can show something this Fall, we can compete with that because, well, we have Athens and they have Clemson.
