Why don't you send him a tweet and tell him how great Auburn is

I fricking hate AU, this is a post about the draw to AU for Fields, which is real.

Maybe he's noticed that Malzahn doesn't have a very good track record developing high school quarterbacks, or any track record for that matter

We have Chaney. The jury is out on development, We will have to wait and see on how Eason does this year, but our Offense was mediocre at best last year.

quote:

Your opinion is one voiced frequently by Auburn fans, I'm sure, but there's no good evidence that Auburn actually is a "perfect fit" for high school quarterbacks with NFL aspirations.

Disagree. Cam Newton. IF this kid is as talented as everyone says, won't matter where he goes to school if he has NFL aspirations. I said he is a perfect for the RPO, and he is and AU's is deadly when run by a competent passer. I hate AU, but he is literally the definition of what they look for in a QB. UGA is and will remain pro style, and have recruited as much and have 2 very talented QB's to boot. I'm not saying thats a bad thing, im saying it could hurt us with Fields. I think UGA needs to get a dual-threat.

quote:

I'd advise kids to go someplace where they'll learn to read a defense first and foremost, not practice HUNH with RPO using blocking that may well be illegal in the NFL.

You speak as though I think AU is superior to GA offensivley, they are not and I never said as much nor implied it. I said that Fields is a perfect fit for AU's offense and that has to be considered when discussing where he might end up.

Look the point of my post was that I 100% do not believe he is a lock to UGA and that people are talking out of their arse. School sjust don't sign 5* QB's every year. And there is a reason for that...playing time. If fields comes here, it COULD be 2-3 years before he sees the field. That HAS to be considered when discussing his recruitment.

Let me rephrase again, I hate AU.

Call me a softy, but if we do get Fields, I just feel bad for Jake Fromm. Kid was such a DGD during the recruiting process getting other guys here.

You made that clear. You really like Auburn for Fields. What I made clear is that your points aren't necessarily valid or relevant. Like this:

quote:

he is the absolute perfect fit for their offense

Maybe true, maybe false. He's now the #1 qb recruit in the country, so I'm guessing plenty of programs think Fields is the perfect fit for their offense, no matter what they run. But the important question for Fields is not whether he's the perfect fit for Auburn, or anyone else, but whether Auburn is the perfect fit for him? That's the more important question he should consider and the answer is no, IMO.

quote:

Disagree. Cam Newton.
I said "high school quarterbacks with NFL aspirations". There was a reason for that, which I explained. Cam Newton's single season at Auburn was as a 4th year junior, which isn't the same thing as a quarterback recruited out of high school. Most of Newton's formative years as a college qb occurred elsewhere. Gus has yet to prove he can develop a HS qb.

quote:

You speak as though I think AU is superior to GA offensivley

No, I speak as though you're confusing what's best for Auburn with what's best for Justin Fields. And I also sense a bias in your argument. Your main reason he might choose Auburn; it's a perfect fit. Your reason he might choose Georgia; "family love of GA and his sister and the proximity to their city". So, according to your analysis, if he makes an analytical football decision, Auburn wins. I don't agree, because I think he may well decide that Georgia is his best fit for football, and family, reasons.

I would argue that AU would be the worst "business" decision he could make of the schools in the conversation.

Ok. Now spin it the other way. Why will he come to uga?

-He is perfect for any offense.
-Learning a more traditional offense is good training for the NFL.
-The talent around him will be elite.
-It's the home state.
-His sister is an athlete at uga.
-His mother loves the home school.
-He could play as a frosh at uga, since he can run, and then start as a sophomore.
-post football career network in the state of ga
-new indoor practice facility
-new locker rooms
-friends who are awesome prospects will follow him to uga

This is something that interests me. I know it's true here, but why is it not true for Auburn? Because they aren't Bama?

In-state athletes are always thought of differently in the South, especially QBs.

I agree, yet AU continues to recruits at a high level, including taking occasional elite recruits from Ga.

Correct. Weird last minute addition. Wonder if it means Beal or Wyatt didn't qualify

His head coach said we took him because a spot opened up, meaning either Beal or Wyatt aren't qualifying.
