I'll concede the coaching point, because like many on here, I believe that CMR was a good coach, but he never possessed that extra gear to become elite - as a coach himself.
When it comes to talent, however- I'll blindly speculate that you'd need to go to at least 4 deep on Bama's roster at virtually every position before you would get to a 3*, much less a PWO. Richt could never say that at any point in 15 years.

So you are going by recruiting rankings which is based off potential (NFL potential if I'm not mistaken) over being on the active roster for an NFL team?
My point was that now we have Kirby, and whether it comes true or not, it seems like he is more desire and a fire to get things done. I think being around Saban help instill this in him, at least showing him how it can be done. Plus we will always have the talent in the state to be a top tier program, we just need a coach who can coach them up. There are plenty of examples of UGA players turning into studs in the NFL but not so much at UGA. I think Kirby fixes this.

Doesn't surprise me much, but it still sucks to think that this is Michel and Chubb's last year.

I saw that comment as well. Had a little sad about it for a minute. Theoretically possible that Michel sticks around if Chubb dominates the backfield this year but I'd say it's unlikely. Just hoping that Holyfield comes in, works hard, and finds a way to get some meaningful carries 5-8/game would be great (not in mop up mode).

I think Michel would be awfully foolish to come back for a senior year considering the injuries he has seen first hand to Gurley and Chubb, as well as Keith's situation.

As I said, possible but unlikely. I wouldn't fault either one of them if they were gone. Bummer to think about, but I am excited to see what they are able to do both this year and going forward.

At least Holyfield has great potential.

Barring injury, Sony and Nick will be gone. As a general rule, it's healthy for the program if players leave early when they have the right opportunity

Agreed. And if both stay healthy, UGA will have a very good year.

Correct. High School players see this and want to go to a school that puts players in the NFL early.

Would make Sermon and Mcfarland all that more important this cycle.

I don't care what their names are; I just want an athletic QB who is a legit dual-threat in the mold of D.J. Shockley.

Well, you'll be disappointed in probably the next few qb's we sign.

I don't see why we can't get more qbs like A Murray who can pass, but is a legit running threat. I know we got Eason, but it would be nice to get some athletic qbs who can create their own plays instead of just throwing the ball out of bounds. Imagine having a mobile qb handing the ball to Chubb/Michel or keeping it. Or pull a WR in on the sweep presnap and it would be hard to stop. Look what Michel did vs UF on the 1st play of the game last season. Imagine if the qb could do that or pass.

Trevor Lawrence is that kind of qb. We'll see if we can snag him in 18.

Keep a look out for 2018 dual threat QB Emory Jones. He's visiting this weekend and his stock seems to be rising. Only offers he has are GSU and Mississippi State I believe but that will likely change in a few months.
