I can put a majority of the blame on the scheme. And NFL teams draft by schemes and fits. I doubt a team that ran a zone scheme would draft him.

Looks like it's down to us and the Gators for William Poole III.

Seems like he was UGA bound the moment we hired Kirby. Already really liked us prior to that but I think Kirby puts us over the top for him and McBride

A bit early for me to get excited about a decommit one way or the other, but Norcross DE Robert Beal just decommitted from Notre Dame. I've read where Radi or Rusty or someone said he's Lorenzo Carter-ish, if not better...FWIW

Yeah it is..apparently the kid showed-out the past few weeks at camps and drew a ton of attention.

Also, Jenkins says he is 6'3", not that it matters really.

I don’t know much about Jenkins, but it seems Coley and Smart understand our deficiencies related to the size of WR's. We already have some good athletes on campus, but we need larger targets, especially in the red zone. I think it’s a good pickup. It will be interesting to see how he is graded by other sites. At the moment, 247 needs to see more but we’ll see if other offers start rolling in.

I trust Kirby and Coley both, and even I'm smart enough to know that at 6'3"+, the kid can be a weapon were sorely lacking.

I don't disagree with you, but the funny thing is, we've had big targets in the redzone for a while. They're called Tight Ends. We just rarely seem to be able to find them.

I fully agree that to have the offense running as a well oiled machine, we'll need at least one lengthy receiver in most classes. Wims will be that role this year but we've only got him for 1-2 years as a Juco transfer. Outside of that, Woerner really is likely to get played more like a TE than a receiver, and a ton of TE talent, so getting the jump on a sizable WR that is trending up this year is a huge get. I feel like the old staff was often late on offers, possibly because they were waiting to see who else offered. Making talent evaluations and getting offers out like this is very encouraging... no need to wait for a recruiting service to validate that you think a kid has talent.

The big problem isn't getting talent on offense to CMR to Athens. It's getting talent in Athens at multiple positions at THE SAME TIME. We need an Aaron Murray, Todd Gurley, AJ Green, Malcom Mitchell, Hines Ward and Bruce Figgins all on the same team at once. even then, we need them behind a rock star OL. That's the only way to get over the hump, IMO.

You have to close the Bama Talent Gap.

Agree, top 10 vs top 5 recruiting. And the key difference is in the trenches. There are quite a few skill players who can get the job done behind a talented OL and front 7.

This WR we picked up is one our mods and everyone likes so I imagine he will probably move up the rankings quite a bit before the season is complete. I seen them talk about him quite a bit as a good fit before he committed.

Also, Deangelo Gibbs is being looked at for Reciever now instead of CB. Has a heigher ceiling as a receiver and more natural at the position. Would suck to lose him to UT as it seems every year our best receivers in state go to another team.

Point and case: Auburn...

They may be terrible for a cycle, but then they will have a 1-2 year span of solid talent across the majority of positions. They have the high variance "roller coaster" approach to personnel, but it seems to have fluctuated all around the same time where lots of positions will drop off, then improve collectively, as opposed to UGA where either due to injury, depth, or other problems, it hasn't happened often where all positions are at that very high/elite level. This year no exception... OL going to be thin, DL/ILB a little thin as well. *Could* be good, but likely to have a few stumbles.

LINK

seems some think he is a better receiver. Not saying our staff but our mods are suggesting he is a better receiver. Still being mentioned as either a CB or S but receiver isn't out of the question.

I disagree. UGA has always had talent. I think the NFL proves this with UGA only trailing Bama and LSU with active players, which is only by 1-2 players (this was at beginning of this past NFL season). Now granted Bama has had a lot more guys drafted in the 1st round, overall I think UGA has had more superstars in the NFL or just as many. Stafford, AJ Green, Gurley, Moreno, J Houston, G Atkins, Reshad Jones, etc. The problem has been coaching. Richt is a good coach, but that is about it. Saban is an excellent coach.

Also as someone said, Richt could never get a full or close to a full squad on the field at the same time. Oline has been the biggest weakness for Richt as well, whereas it could be Bama's biggest strength.

EDIT: The point is that we have Kirby now and I'm sure he has that extra drive that Richt would never display. I think Kirby can get us over the hump, if nothing else but doing things the same way Saban has done it. UGA will always get talent, but now I think we have the coach who can do something with it.

So one 247 mod said that, but he remains a 5 star cb being recruited as a cb?
