if you look at our guys composite scores we are just a eyelash away from having 6 5 star players.
What is the cutoff for a 5-star?

I'm not quite sure, i do believe they have 32 5 stars yrly.

Swift had a 98.28 so the cutoff had to be around 98.40.

Thanks! Seems like that's not an ideal order for us if I look at it. Speed, Stokes, Murch are all guys that we 'should' only be taking if we miss on some of the others.
Like if we are getting Jamyest Williams or Brini, then Speed/Stokes might no longer be a take.
Similarly for Murch, if we are definitely getting Wyatt seems like we'd want to know about Solomon (still assuming he's gone, but gotta account for him still).
I would assume with those times though that the coaches already know who we're getting or feel pretty sure, otherwise they may have asked them to hold off on announcing? I dunno how "open" they can be about whether a guy only has a commitable offer if Player X doesn't choose UGA.

As far as 247 is concerned, the cutoff isn't a rating, it's the top 32 guys. They do it based on "potential first round NFL draft" promise/potential. Not sure about the other services.

Speed's HS coach said he would be shocked if he did not sign with UGA.

This is very subjective of me. But anything 94+ is great. High 4 stars generally lead to solid, reliable starters who will be playing on Sundays.
I also back out QBs when counting (we generally will only hit on one out of 3 or one out of 4 to really contribute at a high level... not the same conversion ratio as other 94+ recruits)

Apparently Murchison told staffs this morning. OM offered another DT this afternoon. May be nothing but worth noting

Yeah, I saw the article as well. I guess what I was getting at is the coaches must have a pretty firm grasp on who is/isn't signing with us at this point, or likely his announcement would have needed to be later in the day.
Just given the announcement time and the language from the coach, it makes me think JW will likely stay with USCe. If we close with Speed, Bryant, and Murch in addition to keeping our existing class, that's pretty damn strong. Would put us at a 301.52. It will bring our per player rating avg down a bit (not that it matters, just acknowledging it). Speed's coach has said he doesn't really support his players going to the recruiting camps which has likely contributed to a lower rating than he might deserve, particularly given his offer list and getting the late visit from Saban (we heard similar things about Walter Grant throughout the year). Murch is a JUCO guy and inevitably, their ratings are low relative to HS guys (there are only 9 rated higher than a 90).

More likely to be something than nothing. We've been that team throwing out the afternoon offer in years past, usually because we got bad news in the morning.

So if we are getting speed and Murch, I assume the writing is ont he wall for Williams and Soloman, which is fine, I just am trying to figure out which announcement Im going to give a shite about.

BTW I am stoked about Wyatt. I think the kid will do great at GA.

Only 3 I'm really paying attention to are Speed, Murchison, and Bryant. If you have the time, maybe check out Brini. Outside of that, not a whole lot to look at. #FeelsGoodMan

Not saying either will happen just tired of refreshing 247 over and over. Which would you be more disappointed in?

Anybody else get the feeling Kirby has a significant 2018 (or possibly a 2019) kid waiting in the wings to make his announcement either tomorrow or Thursday? I'd imagine Thursday, so as not to steal the spotlight from the 2017 class tomorrow.
But I feel like Kirby's just waiting to get momentum rolling for next year's class, and he's gonna make sure they "control the message." No better way to do that than a big commit for the next class
