Backcounting is about to go away though, so UGA will just need to sign 25 every year.
I've heard this a few times but haven't seen any link to an actual announcement on it. Any chance you've got one?

Is it just me or is this the least climatic signing day of all time or is recruiting in general just kind of losing some of its luster? Last year had so much going on and this year just seems like we have one waffle (Wyatt) and a few last minute additions that we might add that are under the radar....Brian Herrion types that all classes go after once your numbers are dwindling down. The Falcons going to the Super Bowl helps the drought but the NFL and their SJW bullshyt made me skip watching the season so I'll prolly only watch that and call it a night. Odd year

I might be able to find one, but it has been discussed a long with some other sweeping changes, including an early signing period in December. It will really change the face of football recruiting.

jsut about every class under richt was the same way, get a bunch of solid commits real early, hang onto em, most of em are signed for good by lunchtime.
Last year provided intrigue only because of the new staff so you didn't really know waht guys were thinking.
But as for the dramatics part of it, I'd say this is going to be about like most of em have been. There are guys we don't hvae committed that we could sign, but we pretty much know about them already (bryant, speed, etc). The only REAL quesiton mark that people will be on pins and needles for is Solomon, but I feel like there's a few of those every year.

Yeah, this was the best I could find and it didn't mention backcounting with the rest of it at all: LINK
Now, the curious part *might* be - because the signing period is now happening in December, perhaps the calendar date of "initial counters" is thrown off somehow, but I always thought it was based on when their scholarship was initiated, not their actual signing date. (ie. If scholarship starts in the middle of the 2016-2017 academic year, then they are able to be applied back to the start of that year if space available).

Whoohoo. First post here. Lets talk crooting
Devonte Wyatt
With the report from Tony Morrell this morning saying that Wyatt changes his mind a lot, coupled with the fact that literally every insider is extremely confident in their team's ability to land him, I'm thinking this is a "tell 'em what they want to hear" type. This is making it hard to get a good feel for who gets him. I'd say 50/50 between the two of us and UF being an outsider. I posted that I thought we'd land him before seeing the reports from everyone else so now I'm less confident he comes here than I was this morning but I'm still 50/50.
Zamir White
Absolute stud. However, any Gamecock fan that tells you we are confident we are getting him hasn't been paying attention. We saw the writing on the wall and cut our losses. Yes we'll go after him cuz who wouldn't but we have begun to focus our efforts on 4*s Master Teague and Jamal Elliott

I honestly just hope that no one melts tomorrow because we're landing our best class of all time, and no one in the SEC East is even close.
I've been down on Kirby's coaching but the future is incredibly bright.

I've been lurking on y'alls recruiting board a lot these last few days.
I think y'all keep Williams, and I think we keep Wyatt. I think Florida's guys are the worst sunshine pumpers - their board makes them seem like legit contenders for Wyatt and also Labryan Ray (which would be an ENORMOUS surprise).

Welcome. I always enjoy having fans from other schools coming in to have a a good-hearted football chat and offer insights from their side.

Anyone who melts down tomorrow needs to be chemically castrated and change their name to Sally, because they're a pussy. We are bringing in, as you stated, our best class ever and we have a chance at an all-time top-10 class (on paper, since recruiting ranking really started in 2000). If you take this class, it would finish 1st in a lot of seasons, it just so happens that Bama and Ohio State are putting together historic classes, too.

And we just landed a 2018 LB out of Florida. Donovan Georges. Currently ranked a 3 star.

That is really big news because of Wyatt's versatility. He can play a 3 tec with his size, but also play a 5 tec with his speed and athleticism.

What was suprising is that his family went with him to UF this past weekend and afterwards told him to go to Florida.
But he is sticking with UGA..it will be good when he signs on the line tomorrow.
