This hilarious quote from the UF 247 board....

quote:

1) Their class is blowing Richt's past classes away 2) When they were getting top 10 classes most years, we were also, they have never out recruited us regularly in the past 3) They have 8 kids who are rated better than our best recruit 4) This is a problem

Yeah, Florida is in full blown denial right now. They're desperately trying to tell themselves that this is ok

Just watched a replay of the highlights of the '07 Appalachian St. vs Michigan game again for the umpteenth time. Has new meaning now.

If we finished with:
Solomon
Gibbs
Bishop
McBride
Warner

Our composite score would be 307, which would have beaten #1 Alabama's 2016 class by 6 points. This year it will probably be good for 3rd, but it will still be the best class we've brought in for the last 20 years.

edit: That score would be good for the 10th best class (247 composite score) in the modern recruiting era (2002-present). Bama has like 5 or 6 classes in the top 10.

Not to mention that we have 4 strong leader returning that we thought surely wouldn't. I'm looking forward to 2017.

Yeah if you include michel Chubb carter and Bellamy who we obviously didn't expect to have, this has to be in the top 2 or 3 groups of additions from one year to the next maybe ever.

I totally get how optimistic and homerish that is. But I mean Chubb and Michel are probably two of the best 10 backs in the country and you're adding that to a top 10 highest rated class ever....

Following up on some earlier posts about the distance we're putting between us and rivals on the recruiting trail, according to composite rankings. Also I can't remember if it's just rivals that does this or everybody but there's some services that only "count" (for score purposes) the top 20 recruits. Just an FYI

Team / Commits / 5* / 4* / Score

Georgia / 20 / 2 / 15 / 289.80
Auburn / 18 / 1 / 8 / 243.86
Tenn / 25 / 1 / 4 / 235.02
S.Car / 22 / 0 / 5 / 224.14
Florida / 14 / 0 / 6 / 200.97

Btw, UF is sandwiched in the rankings above arkansas and below mississippi state at the moment. Yikes.

Cautiously optimistic. LeCounte is doing work.
Savages.

If LeCounte is able to be this much of an influence as a HS Sr displaying this much leadership already, I am REALLY looking forward to following him as a Dawg! That kid is already special. His contribution will pay forward even if he never sees the field which we know he will in hopefully as big a way as he is projecting.

247 sports use Gaussian distribution when determining the scores. Basically, your top guys are weighted more heavily, and your lower rated guys, in an average sized class, will factor very little into the total score.

Yea, and top 10 classes don't cut it when the best in your league are getting top 5 classes. Georgia hasn't won a SEC Championship since 2005 and Florida's last was in 2008. Those extra 4 and 5 star players in those top 5 classes are often difference makers.

Crazy how well we're recruiting and how poor McElwain is. Getting recruits to UF should be like selling a heater to an Eskimo. I guess Richt and Jimbo are killing UF down there.

State of Florida isn't going to get any easier to recruit with the addition of Strong and Kiffin.

That has been the word on McElwain though right? A pretty decent coach but a shitty recruiter?

It's nice to see that playing out..he's going to run out of runway sooner rather than later if this is the case.

That said, he won the back to back east titles in his first two seasons......

So did Mizzou lol

Jokes aside, I think He's a good coach but I don't believe he'll be able to keep that up next year. They've been a defensive juggernaut but are losing a ton and their DC.

I've said it to many a friend that once Muschamps D moves on, McElwain will struggle. He's been living off that D so far and it's bound to fall off. It'd be amazing if we could put some doubt in Elijah Blades' mind or their other top D recruit. Kick 'em while they're down

Not to try and turn this thread into a WLOCP discussion but quite frankly I think our inability to compete with Florida has become mostly psychological. Jmho
