In his final two years in Columbia, Beamer also served as recruiting coordinator

If he can bring Beamer Ball to STs and knock it dead as a recruiter, shite.........................

And now I dream,

- NY Giants come knocking and Saban goes to the Big Apple
- Cochran is not enamored with this development and asks Kirby to get him out of there and Kirby does......

He was SCe's recruiting coordinator. Their slide began when Beamer and Lawing left...

I know this.

Shane Beamer to coach ST.

Then Lupoi's DC. Saban's got some work to do after he wins this next NC.

Tim Watts on BOL just posted that the consensus among coaching sources as well as sources at UA and UGA is that Mel Tucker will likely be the UGA DC.

Write up on the hires from a 247 poster... Prolly best case scenario on each coach but hope springs eternal...

Offense:
OC/QBs: Chaney - Chaney has a good reputation for utilizing the talent he has available. He has produced prolific passing and running games at different stops in UT and Arky. Not known as an elite recruiter but is surrounded by elite recruiters on the offensive side of ball. Some say he can get away from things that work early in a game. I expect this to be a non-issue in Athens as I would forsee Kirby putting a stop to any nonsense quickly in game. All in all, his hire helped secure Eason and looks to be a very positive one for the Dawgs.

RB: McGee - I knew his name from his time at Carver and the Crowell recruitment but is a relative unknown when it comes to his college coaching ability. From reports, he is VERY connected and well respected in the high school coaching ranks which should prove beneficial in recruiting. If he can prove effective in teaching proper blocking techniques for our backs, this could be a very good hire.

WR: Coley - His tenure as OC at Miami was very much a bust but the guy is an amazing recruiter and reportedly solid position coach. WR recruiting has been abysmal for the most part over last several years for the Dawgs so having Coley should help a lot. Cavin Ridley showing interest in the good guys seems to be some early positives to the Coley hire. He helped recruit much of the talent at FSU for their title run. He's well connected in the loaded south Florida area.

TE: Beamer - BEAMER BALL!! That should be more than enough for us Dawg fans who are sick of special teams blunders costing us in big time moments. That aside, Beamer has been recruiting coordinator at Mississippi State and USCe during their elite recruiting years. He is an unknown in regards to TE coaching but with his coaching pedigree, I'm willing to bet he gets the job done and has an elite position group to work with.

OL: Pittman - Perhaps the biggest hire for Kirby thus far, Pittman is widely regarded as the best offensive line coach in the nation. He likes a big, mauling line and that is music to most Dawgs fans ears. OL recruits reportedly love the guy as is evidenced by his Arky OL going to his house to try to talk him into staying. His coaching prowess and recruiting ability should pay immediate dividends for us this cycle and this fall.

Defense:
DL: Rocker - While not a new hire, keeping Rocker is another home run for Kirby. The guy can flat out coach up the D-line and has proven to be a very good recruiter for us. He is potentially going to haul in an elite class of DL boys this cycle and looks to continue to improve our DLine play.

LBs: Sherrer - Another retained coach for Kirby, and another home run. Sherrer has proven to be more that adept at not only coaching up his position, but also having a good grasp of the entire defense. He has a DC mind and has built great relationships with his players and recruits. Keeper Sherrer in Athens was big for this staff moving forward.

DB(?): Schumann - A relative unknown to many but reports are he is a brilliant defensive mind. He reportedly was Kirby's right hand man in game planning the Bama defense. Others have said he seems to be a very knowledgeable DB coach as seen in camps. His on field coaching position has not been officially determined but he SHOULD excel. Also seems to be a relentless recruiting type as was evidenced by his immediate attacking of recruiting upon being hired in Athens. Time will tell on just how good (or not) this hire is.

DC/OLBs/DBs(?): ???? To be determined.

I'm looking at tucker's bio and it's pretty lackluster. Buddy of mine is a massive browns fan and he said tucker sucked there, just as bad as grantham. Wikipedia says he had record setting bad seasons as DC for the bears.

I realize college and NFL are 2 different beasts, and if saban has him on staff he must be pretty good. I'm just not exactly gaga right NOW about him being our DC based on his track record. I'd probably be more comfortable with sherrer honestly.
