Speaking of Chris Clark, he just got 2 Crystal Ball predictions to Texas Tech. One of which switched from Notre Dame. This kid is projected to every school in the Country.
I’ve never seen a recruit take so many unofficial visits in such a short timeframe:
March 7: Maryland
March 8: Virginia
March 15: Penn State
March 16: UNC
March 21: Ohio St
March 22: Michigan
March 29: Notre Dame
March 30: Purdue

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that there is actually a 0% chance a guy from Avon Old Farms signs with Texas Tech

How did the limb not break with you out so far on it? Did I do that right Porter?

Spoke with a good friend of mine who is/was relatively close to Pruitt and is involved in football. He spouted off some of the typical stuff about Pruitt's ability to recruit, saying we wouldn't be disappointed. He went a little further to say that we're going to be pulling a guy or two per class that we have absolutely no business signing (I dunno if he meant elite talent that didn't favor us early or some diamond in the rough from out of state). Loves Pruitt, says his commitment to fundamentals and technique is unparalleled, which will be the biggest difference on D between this year and last.
He specifically said that there will be no more 2 possession 4th quarter leads blown to Vandy's 2nd string QB.
Then the Disney ended. I asked how comparable our D would be to FSU's last year and my buddy laughed in my face. He said our personnel is severely lacking right now (from the perspective of Pruitt's system) and that Pruitt knows it and knows that the 2015 signing class is critical to sustaining success on D during his stint at UGA.
I proceeded to ask him what we were lacking and he said: If FSU was fast on D last year, then we're simply not fast. If they were athletic, then we're simply not athletic. He doesn't think we're nearly athletic enough at DL and ILB to do what Pruitt wants to do. I know this same friend laughed uncontrollably at our DBs last year and said that Grantham coached like he had one foot out the door (ended up being correct). He didn't mention the DBs at all in this conversation though. I assume we shouldn't worry nearly as much since that is the position that Pruitt will coach personally.
Like everybody else currently believes, he said that Roundtree and Thompson are almost assuredly UGA bound. But that every recruit in this class is in "wait and see/show me" mode when it comes to UGA this year. Although these were pretty general statements, it was at least interesting getting them from somebody who actually knows what they are talking about.
Gave me great confidence for the future and specifically this 2015 class, but curbed my enthusiasm a little bit for the 2014 season.

I think we already got one with that Tennessee DB. That commitment came out of left field and would not have happened without Pruitt here.

Can't disagree with that.

I think that's a pretty wise approach, fwiw.

I would more or less agree with the part about DL and ILB.
Outside of Toby Johnson, our DL isn't very athletic. Maybe if they shaved about 20 lbs off Drew and 10 lbs off Bailey they could be.
We are not very fast at ILB, especially Wilson. It would be huge if we could get a guy like Paris Bostick or Reggie Carter ready to go.

Really interested to what we do at ILB. Hard to take snaps away from a guy who has contributed heavily all 3 years on campus (Herrera) and an All-SEC guy (Ramik), but it will have to happen. This defense will not funnel all of the tackles to them.
I personally think if we trim weight on the DL that we'll be better than he thought. Drew, Bailey, Johnson, etc will be formidable. Kind of curious to see what happens with Mayes. Kid had a great year, but he isn't a fit in Pruitt's system IMO.
My friend also specifically mentioned Arden Key as a guy that Pruitt will definitely want, but he didn't sound as confident in UGA getting him.
ETA: I should also add that this guy neither works for UGA nor is a UGA fan. Not even slightly sympathetic to UGA.

I think Herrera will play. I honestly think it could be a situation where Wilson goes from 1st team all-SEC to not starting or even playing that much. I just don't think he's a very good fit.
I do think Pruitt will love Floyd

Trent Thompson will finally be taking a visit to UGA on the weekend of March 22nd. His mom will be bringing him up.
The eyes of the world will be watching.
