How accurate are the BI people? They basically have the Dawgs getting everybody

They're sunshine pumpers for sure, but that list isn't exaggerating much given what was seen and heard last night. UGA is going to come away from this weekend as the leader for a lot of guys, if not with some outright commitments over the next couple of days.
ETA: The atmosphere, the way the camp was run, the chemistry of the staff and players was on a completely different level this year as compared to past Dawgnights. I think you could say that it not only had the most talent of any Dawgnight ever (which is saying something given that we've hosted Derrick Henry, brice Ramsey, Tramel Terry, John Theus, Jordan Jenkins and more in one night) but it also was the outright best run camp so far.

How much of this do you guys think we can attribute to Pruitt being involved? I may be reading to much into his hire but it appears to me that a lot of things have changed, for the good it seems, since he has arrived. It's great to see the staff go so aggressively after prospects!

Probably that much tbh. He's never been involved with an event like DN. I think it's more of a case of the event being improved and refined each year.

Well the DJ was his idea. Pruitt is a home run

Was it? I didn't see that. If it was, it was a good one

He's seen what works in recruiting at 2 of the most successful programs out there. He's probably brought a few suggestions & ideas to the table...

I was just curious because a lot of the new hires, not just on field assistants, have ties to Alabama or Pruitt in some sort of way and the mindset seems to be shifting a bit. I'm not one to just blindly jump on the bandwagon but I'm very excited to see where this leads to on the field!!

Im pretty sure. I thought i read that on fsf or 247, Cant remember which.

Dawgnight this year was vastly improved because of a few things:
1.) Letson organized a great camp. By holding the majority of it at the practie facility, we not only got to show off Butts-Mehre and the new practice fields but it is also a much more relaxed area for coaches and players to mingle with recruits and their families. Honestly, I think the reason you saw so many current and former players there last night is because of it being at the practice facility where most of those guys are anyway and that reflects so incredibly well on our program. And, yet, the recruits still got to have the grand finale treatment at Sanford last night after the camp was finished. All in all, it was a very, very well executed set up.
2.) Pruitt has assembled a highly qualified and very personable staff. There were a lot of players, recruits, parents, and reporters commenting on how the atmosphere was completely different because of how friendly the coaches were with one another. For the first time in a while, it seems like we have a coaching staff that actually gets along with one another and that means a lot to recruits and their families. There were no signs of turmoil; in fact, it just looks like growth and positivty. You couldn't be at that event last night and not sense that the program was moving forward rather than backward.

Dawgs do not have a problem recruiting ... I remember very recently Grantham was thought of as a closer
Question is: Are these the right players ?

Another key thing to holding it at the practice facility is that it is surrounded by Stegman, the Rankin Center, Foley, BM, and the Track. While players will spend their Saturdays in Sanford, that area of campus I mentioned is the main hub of their lives on campus. It's important for them to not only see it, but to feel comfortable in that area and to look forward to returning to that place.

Great to see because this is how championship programs are built, I think this is just the beginning of something that could be extremely special.

I trust the assessment of Pruitt and his staff much more than I ever did Grantham and Co. These are guys who have actually coached at just about every level and in every position from high school up to college. They know what makes good a college football player. Grantham could reel in some big fish, but he was much more NFL minded. It wasn;t who was going to succeed in college as much as it was who was going to projest well for the pros. Yeah, you can win some games with guys that are going to go pro one day but you also have to develop those guys to get to that point. If you're not developing them properly or if they're not physically or mentally able to get to that pro level before their senior season, then you've wasted at least 3 years with guys that are struggling to reach their potential whereas you could have had guys out there that may not have a ton of pro potential, but they know how to put a hat on a hat and make the crucial plays needed to win football games. It's just a difference in philosophy.
ETA: To further illustrate my point, it's like taking a 7th grade class of students and trying to prepare them for high school (the next level): who is going to better develop and get more out of those students? A college professor with many articles, books, and awards to his name or a secondary school teacher certified to teach middle grades students? You may be able to get something out of them with the college professor, but ultimately it's going to be the certified school teacher that understands their abilities and their level enough to determine how to best maximize their potential and to prepare them to do well.

IMO, Grantham & Pruitt will recruit the same players.. It's more about a "culture change" or whatever ya want to call it under Pruitt... Grantham seemed like a crazy mfcker defensive minded player's coach.. I wonder what Pruitt's stamp will be
Posted on 7/19/14 at 10:25 am to Chris_topher
Pruitt is apparently quite the hard arse. He doesn't talk to the guys (that's on the position coaches) and he expects you to do it his way. He's not a player's coach and yet he understands how to make players reach their potential.

UGA is evaluating differently across the board defensively, just based on personal observation.
