He pretty clearly hasn't been a priority for Pruitt and Rocker. Lowndes said as much

They have 3 scholarship DT's on their roster right now. He can step in, as an out of shape true freshman, and play immediately. He'd have to redshirt at UGA. He's going to be VERY good and it will suck to lose him, but he wants to play early and we can't compete with what Miami offers in that regard.

He had a really bad senior year. I can't speak to their specific evaluation, but he is said to have put on about 25 lbs of bad weight

Bad news but, at the same time, I don't think I've seen film on any prospect that degenerated as fast and far as Gaillard. His Jr. film was some of the best I'd seen at nose tackle.

Then I saw film from his Sr. year.

Fatter and slower. Even his lightning fast first step had all but disappeared. I would still like to sign him because I think the talent is still there he just needs to be whipped into shape. But he will have to really want it.

I said earlier we only lose him to Miami if we have politely told him to move on. I still believe that, fwiw.

Ain't that the truth. I could be on my death bed for obesity and still order a heap of eggs, a biscuit or 5, and grits/hash browns

Newberg just said he's hearing some things on BAW. That UGA has a real shot to flip him. He's pretty connected in the recruiting circles.

You can pretty much count Gilbert Johnson as gone, now that Isaiah McKenzie has entered the picture (looks like he is accepting the UGA offer on the spot).

May be able to say the same of Lamont Gaillard. My guess is the coaches (particularly Pruitt and Rocker) didn't want to take a flyer on a guy that gained so much weight and lost so much speed between Junior and Senior year of high school. Reflects poor self discipline. May also be that Gaillard is taking a look at what UGA and Miami have to offer in terms of depth and is going with the easy PT in Miami.

I'll take that trade. Johnson was nice, but we've got a number of WRs with that kind of talent already on the team. McKenzie has a special niche with his quickness for the return game (both punt and KO) which we need desperately.

The rumblings across the recruiting boards. He and Michel are tight, he has visited UGA (so it wouldn't be the rare blind commit), and his twitter has gone silent after he said he'd know today where he would be going.

Call it a hunch, but I think he's ours if we want him.
