tweener. Too big and not fast enough to play OLB, but too small to play DE in the 3-4.

He also has grade issues according to 247

South Carolina has a big lead for Smith. He wants to play corner, we want him at safety. SCar will at least give him a shot there, but he'll probably end up at safety.

A lot like Chaz Elder from a few years ago.

Which is why we have commitments from Malkom Parrish and Shattle Fenteng; and working Wesley Green like no ones business. Shaq Wiggins is going to be a good one, and I think most people are selling Brendan Langley too short because of what was seen on the field from a corner who was not ready for primetime yet. The coaches know what they have at CB, and I don't think they think its necessary to take a flyer on a project like DJ Smith with this recruiting cycle.

He’s SCAR backup for losing out on Wesley Green. He didn’t have a great senior year according to Rusty. I think he started off as one of the top 10 players in the state according to 247, but has dropped fast (30th I believe). He is projects better at safety, so we’ll see how that pans out.

I think Bowman will bail. Langley might too, but I don't think that's a certainty.

Other potential transfers are Tibbs, Turman, maybe a couple others

I get Turman but what's with Tibbs being a candy arse? And Langley and co scare me more about our staff than them not wanting to compete

ETA: am I wrong in this, btw?

I just don't think he's that good. He's not on track to ever play meaningful snaps. If he couldn't break into the receiver rotation with all the injuries this year, it's not likely that he ever will.

I don't think Langley took too kindly to Shaq taking his spot. I'm not sure about where he stands with our coaches

ETA- and with Wilkerson coming back next year along with the arrivals of Parrish, Fenteng, and hopefully Wesley Green, Langley will face even more competition to get back on the field

ETA2 - I hope he sticks it out. He's a really talented kid who could be a really good player for us

Well that's a bummer

Well while Langley's size is awesome idk what he could bitch about. Wiggins actually makes plays whereas our good friend Brendan is almost a guaranteed reception every time. I'm surprised he wasn't injured after USCe and LSU with whiplash from his head swinging around to see all those bombs going right over him.

So does this mean he's go JUCO and come back to an SEC West school and beat us?

ETA to your ETAs: I hope he does too because while he may come across whiny with this transfer talk he's a damn specimen. Hope he decided to embrace the challenge instead of cowering.

Wiggins was better than him this year, not doubting that decision. Wiggins is so much more instinctive, and that helps as a freshman.

Agreed. Getting benched as a freshman should hardly scare him off the idea that he can have a really good career here.

I mean hell, the coaches thought enough of him to start him week 1 on the road at Clemson. They clearly think a lot of his talent. Once the mental part comes around, he could be really good.

Are y'all feeling pretty confident with Carter? I'm guessing OLB at Georgia?

Yeah, we feel pretty about him for right now. He's been on several UO's.

I don't understand why Langely was benched. He straight up just disappeared from the rotation. Kid needs to get reps under his belt and it's not like he had worldbeaters in front of him.

Some things I've read on other boards is that attitude became a big problem with BL.

There was a quote from Richt on 24/7 recently that the class could be above 20 now, due to attrition. I took it as the coaches already know who is transferring.
