Richard LeCounte, teammate of Raekwon, has been named the favorite to win the Maxpreps.com Freshman of the Year award. LeCounte has gone on record to say that he will most likely end up wherever Raekwon goes.

Josh Malone has named a top five of UGA, Clemson, Tennessee, Ohio State & Florida State. (Not sure if I've posted that before).
Georgia:
Tennessee:
Sounds like a 2-horse race, just like we've thought. Here's the rest of the field:
Georgia:
quote:
“Georgia was a very good visit,” Malone said of his Georgia official. “I got to spend a lot of time with Coach (Mark) Richt and (current wide receiver) Chris Conley. I got to spend a lot of time with Coach Richt and Coach (Tony) Ball. I got to talk football with them and it just went really good that visit.”
Asked what stood out the most about Georgia, Malone pointed to the coaching staff.
“Really the family atmosphere,” he said. “I could really tell how much time the coaches really put into it with their players. They really try to help them out and Georgia’s there for life for them.”
Tennessee:
quote:
“Tennessee also went good,” he said. “I got to spend a lot of time with Coach (Butch) Jones, Coach [Tommy Thigpen], Coach [Zach Azzanni] and Coach [Mike Bajakian]. The game that they played against Georgia was great. It was a tough and physical game. They’re constantly just improving during the season. It’s good to see. Both visits went great.”
Sounds like a 2-horse race, just like we've thought. Here's the rest of the field:
quote:
“Ohio State’s really always been in the mix,” he said. “They’ve always been there and really I just talked to Coach (Tim) Hinton and I decided to give them an official visit because it’s another place I really see myself thriving at. Also the opportunity to come in and play. That’s another big factor and then the offense throws the ball.
“I’m just trying to spend a lot of time with the coaches and just trying to get to know them better.”
“Clemson is a good program. I know they’re opening up at wide receiver in this class and it’s another chance to play. It’s a good coaching staff and it’s a really pass-happy offense.
“Florida State is a really pass-oriented offense and it’s off-set with the run. Coach (Jimbo) Fisher likes to get the ball in other people’s hands and it gives people a chance to make plays. And it’s a nice campus.”

I still think we're in good with Malone, especially with convention wisdom (whatever that's worth) has said that we have 5 spots left, with 4 of them being for defense. What I find problematic is that folks are saying that we've told David Sharpe 5* (OT) that we're full. For someone of his upside, that sounds unpossible.

I heard there might be some concerns about Sharpe, but I have no clue FWIW.

Speaking of work ethic, someone I do business with still talks to Gardner when he comes through town on recruiting visits. He said Adams is sorry as hell. Damn shame, I hope he gets it together. I always root for the South Ga. kids.

I thought he was doing really well this year?

Montravius Adams? Wow, maybe we dodged a bullet. Although it makes me wonder if Wilson couldn't have beat the lazy out of him.

He is. I don't know whether he's lazy or not, but he's damn gifted

He is, but with that talent, effort can make you great. I hope he does well. I actually came across this board checking on his recruitment. They played here and so did Foster his junior year. Adams dominated us and was the main reason they went to state last year.

I know for a fact that Adams was a lazy pos for his first 2 or 3 years at Dooly, he always made the team run extra and everybody on that team hated him for it. Hated him until he finally started getting it together last half of junior year and senior year.

When they played us last year, he would throw the center into the guard, then throw the fullback at the running back

Are we still recruiting damian prince?

He says we are.
I would love to have more 5* big uglies on the OL, but I just don't see a scenario where we land him. Hope I'm wrong.
He's definitely taking an OV to FL vs FSU for the Gators. Here's what 247 quoted him on the Dawgs, yesterday:

“I like (offensive line) coach (Will) Friend and coach (Mark) Richt. They play in the SEC. That’s big, too. I can see when they play that they have a need for offensive linemen.”

MT @JoshatTheState: USC confirms freshman OL J.P. Vonashek has left the team. Vonashek was a 3-star prospect from South Georgia.
Reckon there'll be any mutual interest??

Is that a compliment...

That was exactly the same thing that I thought.

With Bama offering Malone & him announcing 12/4, do we put all our eggs in the JM basket or do we start courting Nate Brown as a plan "B"? Measurables are measurables but this kid seems to have "IT"...
