If he were to sign today, not good.

The good news is that he's waiting until NSD and that gives us time. It could play out like Jordan Jenkins in the end, but it's too early to tell right now. Having a big season (and Jenkins really breaking out) could go a long way with him. He wants to play in the league and go somewhere that he will be properly developed; Grantham has shown a solid track record and Jenkins becoming a dominant force will only strengthen that.

McMillan looks more likely everyday, too.

I really think these DL's we have committed, are better than what we've had for the last few years. Baker is a big time player. Russell passes the eye test. Now adding Gaillard, is 3 quality Defensive Linemen. Wilson hire is paying off. The guy seems like he can recruit. Let's see if he can reel in Lorenzo.

Baker winds up a o-linemen bc he has to. We need a clutch tackle in this class and he is it.

This is my first year following recruiting.

Is it common to have this many quality players committed this early? We are already talking about cap space and it's July. Add in the overall quality of athlete in each position corps, is this unprecedented or normal or what?

It just depends on the year. More kids are committing early now, so this will probably become more the norm though.

I will say that this class has the potential to be the best of the Richt era, especially for a relatively small class.

Yeah, we're doing better this year than we have in the past. In sure us winning has a lot to do with that. Also, Chris Wilson is tearing it up. B Mac is rated by 247 as the #1 recruiter in the country. We have 4 coaches in the top 50 nationally in recruiting...3 of which are in the top 25. On field results sure are helping.

Also, keep in mind our rankings are going to go up as we only have high profile guys left we're going after.

We'll probably land 2 more in August. Just a hunch.

Brown and Miller would be my best guest.

Not usually, though as Crow said recruiting is beginning to trend more and more this way (especially when more and more top targets are trying to EE so as to give themselves a competitive advantage and earlier PT in their college program of choice).

After his visit to OM he's a strong, strong lean and will probably commit soon...likely tomorrow.

Well, damn. So what do you think? Go after Randolph, get him to commit, and then shut it down at the DB position after that?

ETA: or possibly DJ Smith? Not sure if we're in good shape with him though.

It's possible that we just move the open spot to another position, like OLB or DL. It could reopen the door for Sawyer or Street.

DJ Smith is largely considered a UTk lean. Go after Randolph. If it doesn't work out, oh well. Bigger fish on the line we can use the spot to reel in.

Alright good deal, thanks.

Read where Sawyer is probably a grade risk. Don't know of Street has given up on us or not though. Would be a frickin hell of a d-line haul if we pulled that off. Hell, if we stopped now our d-line class is still great.

Yeah, I knew we were kind of on the outside looking in with him...
