Wouldn't surprise me at all to see Matthews start as a Freshman

Has he announced his decision yet?
Longest process I've seen..

Ok I just want to sound off on how we have the worst students when it comes to football, period
It's not just you guys, it's a problem with us as well. Really only for the small games though, but it looks terrible, and it sure as hell doesnt motivate the players. It's mainly the greek section at UA. We should do away with block seating, and I can say that because I was in a fraternity at UA. At the time it was awesome because we had a reserved seats, but looking at it now it makes no sense, and it almost encourages greek students to show up late/leave early.
I can somewhat empathize, I always had to deal with my date bitching about wanting to leave. "It's hot, I wanna leave, my feet hurt", etc. You're drunk and and tired/hot, your date is looking sexy in her sundress, and she tells you she'll take it off for you if you'll leave.

I don't know how to alleviate this problem to get them to go early and stay longer
The only thing I can think of is issuing somekind of penalty that would result in the loss of a ticket. At UA(and I would guess UGA), you have swipe your ID card to get into the student section, they should start having students swipe them if the leave early. If you leave early say two games, your 3rd game ticket will be given to a student who has had perfect attendance. Or something like that....

I've seen people swipe their ticket to get in the game and then walk right back out so they dont get a strike agains them

How about have very few tickets that can be bought early, and then the rest can be purchased via student ID at the gate on a game by game basis?
Edited to express my total disbelief that Don Draper was a frat boy. NO way!

Yeah I know people who do that. It's freaking annoying.

We have a penalty system where if you don't go to a certain number of games you lose your chance for postseason tickets and I think something else I'm not sure. I think we should do away with block seating as well. I don't know where the greek sections at Alabama are but the greek sections at Sanford are in the upper deck which is where the problem is. It's not like the best seats are reserved so I don't know how it would alleviate the problem but it might work, you never know.

So you guys do have a penalty process? That's a lot better than what we have, which is nothing.
They should make the students swipe out if they leave the game before it ends.

Yeah I agree. It would take a good deal of planning to make this go smoothly.
It's the idiots that show up late that piss me off. You can leave your tailgate 15 minutes early, it's not that big of a deal.

The entire lower endzone area, right there for everyone to see. So it looks badass when it's packed out and the students are going crazy, but it looks like absolute shite when they leave early. It's not an issue with with big games, but it's been bad with the cupcake daygames. A SS should be full for every game. It's only what? 6-7 home games a year? It's BS.

I would say have them swipe if they choose to leave early, and instead of the penalty for a postseason game, have it for a regular season game.
I can tell you right now block seating is our main problem. No reason a greek student that shows up an hour late should have a better seat than a GDI student that shows up 30 minutes early. Reward those who earn it. It was nice to benefit from it while I was in school, but after graduating I realize how detrimental it is.
Knock out our block seating, and install a penalty process and our problem is solved.

:kige: Our lower level corner endzone student section is first come first serve and it fills up like it should before kickoff. It should be like that everywhere.

they need to give incentives for the West endzone students to make them want to sit there. What's most embarassing is how empty that endzone typically gets. shite, an opposing offense has a damn cake walk if they're going west; no noise whatsoever due to the lack of any student presence there. that's why I at least liked the band there, because the band and all them will yell and cheer and ensure at least some students sit over there

Did you guys see this from Saturday?
IYAM the refs deserved it after the way the blew so many calls in the game. The hold on Jordan Jenkins on Buffalo's touchdown pass was just awful!!

Is it me, or does our boy lean into it a little bit to ensure good solid contact?

richt has lost control of ref pummeling
Posted on 9/4/12 at 9:48 am to JStanDawgFan
I'm surprised they didn't throw him out of the game and subsequent game for touching the ref.
Yes I'm bitter.
Typical SEC officials. Not sure why the hold on Jenkins wasn't called. The line judge should have seen it. I guess it's like the back judge staring right at the Vandy receiver in the USCe game and not calling PI.

By the way, it looks like David Ching of ESPN Dawgnation agrees with me on that play....
Penalty problems: Speaking of that play, one of the most blatant holding non-calls that I’ve seen occurred before Zordich launched his pass to Neutz. Georgia outside linebacker Jordan Jenkins beat Buffalo left tackle Andre Davis around the corner, so Davis grabbed the back of his jersey hard enough to pull his shoulder pads through the neck hole of the jersey. Jenkins left the field trying to get his jersey back over his pads while the referees reviewed the play.
