Underwear models shouldn't be starting LB's

Ive said it before and I will say it again. If Vasser was starting we were in trouble.
Agreed. I have been reading the Ramik Wilson was coming for his job before Jordan Jenkins even got on campus. I really like JJ and Ramik as a 1-2 punch opposite Jarvis Jones.

Keep Vasser and C Rob off the field then I'm a happy camper and offenses will need years of therapy

kool aid from... DR???
think he means Smith not Williams, FWIW

That was a great interview.
Here's the link if anyone wants to listen to it:

Radi Nabulsi has ripped into UGA more times than I can count. He is far from a homer and he's been one of the most objective writers on the Dawgs over the past 20 years. He insists that this is a championship caliber team.
Some of the highlights of what he said:
-Rambo was told by Greg McGarity to appeal his 4-game suspension so will likely get knocked down to 2.
-Williams, Rambo, Commings, Vasser likely 2 games, Ogletree at least 1, maybe 2 at most.
-Sterling Bailey and Dexter Morant are healthy and look really good.
-Offensive line is not nearly as big a question mark as people think. Guys like Zach DeBell and Xzavier Ward are much bigger than when they first came in and are looking like beasts. OL depth is incredible as there's 15 HUGE kids healthy and ready to play the line.
-Josh Harvey-Clemons has been moved to safety and he's beasting it up making interceptions and big plays.
-Jordan Jenkins, even as a freshman, is virtually unblockable.
-Justin Scott-Wesley is ridiculously fast and lighting up the field with deep route receptions.
-Only 69 players on scholarship at the moment, but everyone is healthy and there is a lot more quality depth than he thought.
-Dr. Corson is a man of integrity and he has written letters to the NCAA about how much of a travesty it is what's happening to Houston.
-The schedule favors UGA so much that they definitely have better than a punchers chance to win a NC. The OL is the only thing that might hold them back, but the OL is very deep and if they find 5 guys to lock it down, they can do it. -He's not worried about 4-5 starters missing first 2 games, they are too talented and too deep this year.

I think so too, I don't remember Williams getting in trouble.

Normally Radi is pretty doom and gloom. So for him to be so optimistic about this season has me pretty excited to see what these young men can do in 2012.

Is that radi or firewind? Damn, that's all good but I'll wait and see on this OL
I'm pumped to see Jordan Jenkins though

I did notice that Debell's and Ward's weights were way up. That was always the question with both of them. Hopefully they can be big contributors for us.

This^^^^^... Sounds good coming from Radi. Imma still on the gloom & doom train right now, the talk is great but they gotta prove it early...
The Mizzou game is so frickin' important...
If we can come outta the CoMo game tho with a win & look O.K. doing it I'll be on the Disney train with Radi...

Even though people are talking about how Jenkins is a badass at OLB right now, does that not give anyone concerns that our OT's are not cutting it? The fact that a true freshman is giving them big problems concerns me.
I understand that this is how things normally work in Camp...that the defense feasts on the offense in the beginning, but it's still making me nervous

Nah, Jordan Jenkins is a freak of nature, if Vasser is blowing by our O-line, we have a big issue.

Also, I wouldn't judge any OL too harshly until the pads go on. No slight at Jenkins, who I am a big fan of, but anyone can be a shorts and helmet All American.

Andrews will still be the starter. Probably just looking to get a solid backup.

Imma gonna leave this over here, I don't even like to post UGA related stuff on the SECRant anymore because of the herp-derp over there...

Heading into the 2012 Season Todd Grantham has made a philosphical change with the defensive scheme that lead UGA to the #5 Defense in the Nation. This philosophy change is meant to get more athletic along the defensive front and to get more pass rushing on the field.
quote:
UGA has converted former outside linebackers Cornelius Washington and Ray Drew to defensive ends in the 3-4. Washington is 6'4 279 and Ray Drew is 6'5 284 which is undersized compared to UGA's defensve ends last year that were all well over 300 pounds. However, Grantham has made the decision to put there hands in the dirt and allow them to attack the QB.
quote:
This is a great move for the UGA defense against a SEC that has more teams that are becoming spread passing offenses. Now UGA will have another player on the field that is capable of getting into the backfield and chasing down the QB. While players like Abry Jones and Garrison Smith are excellent football players I can't tell you how many times I watched a QB be able to scramble away from them last year and avoid the sack. There are not many QB's in the country that could run away from Washington or Drew.
quote:
With this change I fully expect UGA to increase their pressure on the quarterback and increase their team sack total from last year. I would not want to be an opposing QB looking at that Dawg defense.

It will make it scary on 3rd down when you have to account for Washington/Drew and then look out for Jones/Ogletree/Jenkins/Gilliard, too.
Watts ran with the 1's at RT today, Theus backed him up. Gates-Lee-Andrews-Burnette-Dantzler was the 1st team OL...pretty solid set, in my opinion. If we can get the Long bros, Beard and either Ward or Debell ready to go then I won't be so worried about depth.
