We are going to have some serious depth in the secondary with this class. Much needed. It feels like our staff is going beyond addressing our needs, which is new and oddly comforting.

Dawg fans, I come in peace, just wanted to see what you guys are hearing about Vonn Bell. Big Tennessee fan but also enjoyed his Junior Day visit to Bama a few weeks ago. Also saw you guys have a thread up about him on your 247 site. Just curious. TIA.

All I know about Bell is he is still visiting UGA and, I think, UF? Personally, I think it comes down to a UGA/UT battle, but to be completely honest I dont know all that much about Bell at this point

I've read everything on Bell. Grew up in TN and a UT fan, loved UGA for offering first and is friends w/ Devin Bowman, loved Bama jr day, still visiting UF, and will put LSU near the top if they offer.

I played for his HS coach when he was a DC years back. He has had a couple players sign D1 from Ridgeland recently, the Bowman brothers. Bell arrived after both apparently (?) but 1 did just leave Bama and the other is coming into his RS Fr year at UGA. No idea if he is really friends w/ Devin from UGA or not or if it will play a role at all.

I would guess his top 3 will end up being UT, UGA, Bama in no particular order, but a lot is still to happen between now and NSD. Does UT have a good year or is Dooley canned? Didn't they already lose their DB coach? Will Kirby Smart still be there? Does he even care?

Each team has their advantages:
UGA: Depth chart
Bama: A DB under Saban
UT: lifelong fan

Way too early prediction would be that it depends on if UT goes 9-3 or 6-6 and fires Dooley. If the latter, it'll come down to playing DB under Saban vs. an enticing depth chart at UGA.

I'm not very familiar w/ Bama's secondary depth

Appreciate the responses fellas. His recruitment looks like its going to go all the way to NSD.

Regarding Bama's safety depth we have Robert Lester, Vinnie Sunseri, Ha'Sean Clinton-Dix, Landon Collins, Nick Perry, and Jarrick Williams. It wouldn't be too big of a loss if we do not get Bell but with Lester graduating after this coming season I think we want to take one safety in this class.

If anyone is interested in putting it together, I would be interested in a list of top Saban disciple DBs in the league because I am not getting too far when I start mentally ticking off top NFL DBs.

In fairness to him, he does have two (Kirkpatrick and Barron) that are potentially going in the 1st round this year, so that's attractive in and of itself. Personally, I thought he was partially responsible for Javier Arenas who was also drafted in the 2nd round. He doesn't start for the Chiefs, but he's 5'9 and is getting significant playing time on an NFL D. Kareem Jackson was taken in the 1st round and is having a solid career. Corey Webster has 2 rings and a very good career w/ NYG. He coached Laron Landry for his first two collegiate years.

Either Tray Matthews didn't go to Bama this weekend, or he wasn't there for long; lot of tweets from yesterday about him taking the SAT and going on a date with his GF, then a lot this morning about being at the combine in ATL...

I can't stop watching this video. I seriously can't. I get an ear to ear grin every time. Come on Reuben, come on Robert. Will it happen? Probably not, most likely not actually. But a guy can dream.
