What is your guys opinion on the kid? Do you think he has what it takes to win a National Championship?

Personally, I am one of his biggest defenders on this board (probably more than i need to be), but I think he can get it done. I don't hold much stock in the Arkansas game as they had 2 weeks to prep for our offense, and other top QBs in the SEC have struggled against that defense.

I think him being one of the only 2 QB's in CFB with playoff experience only helps us. With that being said there are things he struggles with still, like pressure. When a defense sends pressure Quinn is prone to freezing, and checking down when he has a wide open receiver.

What do y'all think about him?

has happy feet when pressured.. often locks in on a target.. doesn’t throw a consistent deep ball, and often completely misses the barn.. injury concerns.. not a great scrambler, has trouble between the ears when things are going bad..

BUT

he has a great arm, especially on short and intermediate routes.. and he has learned to throw incompletions when a play is dead (most of the time).. and he will absolutely pick you apart if you can’t get pressure on him., see FL this year.. occasionally he shows up and lights the world on fire.. see Alabama last year..

I personally wouldn’t draft him.. but we can win 85% of the games with him at QB.. which gives us a chance to win a NC.

Arch has higher ceiling imo.. but I’m not sure if he is a better option yet., I do hope Sark puts Arch in for a few series if things go south at Kyle Field… then decide who should play the rest of the game..

I think he can win it all if he loosens up. He should look to scramble more because he is staying to still in his pocket movements (not stepping up or just sliding into the defenders). He can make any throw but to me he is playing more on not to look bad for the draft then just being confident on his reads. It’s more a mental thing than an ability thing.

100%, his problems are between the ears.. I have heard he goes to therapy for it, but once that seed is planted, it is hard to overcome.

I do think Sark should consider moving the pocket more for him in the A&M game.. I can only think of 2 times, but both plays were great.

Michigan TD to Golden in the left front pylon
Arkansas TD to Golden in the right front pylon

Perhaps the element of surprise helps though.. similar to the QB keep on the read option that was used to finish off Arkansas.

I like many, would like to see him scramble a little... I think that would boost his confidence as long as he was smart about it. And then open up a lot more of the field for him. And if he would start throwing the long ball to the open receiver, as opposed to where he thinks he'll be, I'll be ecstatic.

Our defense is playing very well, but Quinn has to get in a rhythm and be comfortable if we want to close these last two games out.

I can't even think past the next two games. HookEm!

He been pretty good game manager last several games not turning ball over. Never seen a QB with so many batted balls. It’s unclear how much his oblique injury was effecting his game this season. Hope he doesn’t turn into a Sam Bradford cannot-stay-healthy type NFL career.

QE scares me. He is the weakest link on this offense and will cost the team a game when it matters most. He just doesn't seem to have the confidence level to put the offense on his back and make the game winning plays.

Those two turnovers were unnecessary and could have changed the game if Aggy was a actual good team. Same in the OU game.

On that last 3rd and 3, you just know Sark wanted to PA but I wouldn't have trusted him either.

Quinn gave us two chances to win the game in the 4th quarter. Bert misses the kicks. Quinn balled out in OT and made back-to-back-to-back scores, like a boss.

He's led us to two 10+ seasons and back-to-back playoffs with another chance to win it all. I've not been this happy since Vince and 4th and 5.

He has my respect and I take back all the bad things I've said about him. Hope he has an Alabama-like performance against OSU and we go on to win it all.

This guy sucks. He held us back all year. This was a championship team and he is deer in headlights when any amount of pressure gets in his face. God I’m so glad I never have to see him in a Texas uniform ever again. GTFO FOREVER QUINN. Good riddance.

Disagree. We got this far with him and I’m thankful for it. It was an enjoyable season. If Arch wasn’t on the bench, I doubt you’d feel that way. I hope Arch lives up to the hype.

I agree. If the OL held up a little better against the elite teams we should easily win the crown this year. It's not Ewers fault.

He doesn't suck. He is just not the right guy for this team and coach. He is not a superstar QB. He needs a solid run game to protect him.

He is definitely overrated for the money/hype.

Quinn is the best QB Texas has had in 15 years. Cmon man.

If there was any QB not named Arch behind him, all Texas fans would be significantly happier with the way Quinn played at Texas.
