3, but that was also before yall joined the SEC. I think the game became more important for us once that happened. We were able to say we have at least one game in Texas every year and that was more than anyone in the SEC before 2012.

That being said, I don't think it really changed that much either way in the grand scheme of things.

I like playing there (yes, I know I'm in the minority), but only been able to attend the game once (2014).

It'll go back to campus as it should. Sooner rather than later. If the classics we've played there over the past 5-6 years can't drive up attendance, nothing ever will.

Playing at Arkansas isn't easy and their fans are trashy (Source* I went to the 2013 game at Arkansas). I'd much rather play at Arlington every year over playing at Fayetteville every other year.

I was at that 2013 game in Fayetteville too. Actually had a great time, but we were surrounded by better tempered Arkansas fans.

1) slight recruiting boost for arky
What boost???

They got Chaggy, who is supposed to be a decent Texas recruiter, and they still can't recruit well in Texas.
quote:

we don’t need help recruiting the metroplex.
I think we do and this game helps. Don't forget that Dallas is a recruiting ground for the entire Big12. OU/Texas/OkieSt/TCU would love for us to stop playing there. You don't think every HS football player from Dallas dreams of being able to play at the home of the "Cowboys"??? You're kidding yourself if this isn't sold during recruiting visits.
quote:

2) attendance at Jerry world sucks and looks bad on tv. Won’t fix that unless both teams are both highly ranked and that doesn’t look to be happening anytime soon.

We get paid the same whether 1 fan shows up or 100k fans show up.

Besides, 60k average for a neutral site game between two shite teams is pretty good considering most bowls don't even get half of that.
quote:

3) takes away a home game every other year from Kyle, so season ticket holders don’t get as many games.

Don't kid yourself. The moment this game returns to Kyle is the same moment our school charges us more for season tickets. We get 7 home games per year, which is enough IMO.
quote:

5) Arky’s stadium isn’t difficult or intimidating so we shouldn’t be scared to play there.

I'd say it's more intimidating than Jerry world where we consistently outnumber Arkansas fans. Why give Arkansas their advantage back??
quote:

6) prices at Kyle are high, prices at Jerry world are higher.
Stop being poor...???

That's all I got for this one. But seriously, there's some cheap tickets available through 3rd party sites right now.
quote:

7) atmosphere isn’t anywhere close to what you get at either home stadium.
The current atmosphere at Kyle Field isn't the atmosphere we used to get at old Kyle Field. It can get loud, but it's not the same. It's as every bit of "corporate" as any major league stadium. I honestly don't see the difference anymore from Kyle Field to a stadium like Reliant Stadium (except for maybe the band).
quote:

9) Jerry Jones is an Arkansas alum, that already makes plenty of money, we don’t need to help make him more.
He pays us to be there. Our school makes more money there than they would back at home (at least when we renewed...I'm not sure how much that amount is now that we've expanded).

You can cry about the "local economy" all you want, but they've been thrown so many fricking bones already. They're the reason why the Kyle Field renovation cost so much and ended up looking aesthetically unappealing.
quote:

I think that covers it.
I don't think it does. You can simply say you hate it and I'll accept that. But I don't think the reasons you listed are good enough to abandon the game.

Be we get a recruiting bump from it being in Dallas

So let's do a home and home with TCU or a 2/1 or 3/2 with SMU. SMU would give us 15k tickets to sell and TCU might do the same. OOC games vs old SWC opponents would be way more interesting than the hot garbage FCS rent a wins or the dull arse G5 matchups vs out of state MAC, CUSA, and Sun Belt schools.

Games at those stadiums >>> Jerry World. They actually feel like college football. There is real tailgating allowed. They are both in better locations to visit. Literally the only thing JerryWorld has going for it is it's in a dome so you never have to worry about bad weather.

The only non upper level P5 I think we should be willing to do a JerryWorld game would be Texas Tech in a one off (b/c screw going back to Lubbock). Everyone else should be a home and home.

As somebody whose family has had season tickets my entire life that is just flat out wrong. The atmosphere at Kyle CRUSHES the atmosphere at stadiums like Reliant and AT&T. It's not even close. This even counts for games against FCS teams.

Also, I'm sorry but the current atmosphere is not all that different than what it was i the old stadium. Old Kyle from the 80s and 90s is romanticized to the point it's become myth. Do you know who we would consistently sell out games for in Old Kyle? Texas and that's about it. Occasionally you'd get a packed Nebraska or Notre Dame game or even a random one vs Tech but for the most part it was only ever completely full and at peak wildness for the sips. Just go back and look at the old attendance numbers. Even games vs LSU and OU weren't consistently sold out.

It's not a myth. Yell leaders would actually have yells and our fanbase wasn't bombarded with ads on the video or ribbon boards.

There's just something about pimping out Doggett Heavy Machinery, Normangee Tractor and At&t during every break that has ruined the atmosphere. To me, it just doesn't feel like the old Kyle Field.

But again, I say that as my personal opinion.

Well, will just have to agree to disagree. On here and texags, the majority sentiment seems to be that people are tired of the neutral site game and want it over with so I know I’m not alone.

Not gonna argue all your counterpoints cause that would take more effort than I care to give on a Friday night. But again you’ll find I’m not the only person who has said these things if you look on other boards as well.

I've been 4 times. 2016 was the only time I truly enjoyed it. Last year sucked. 2009 and 2010 obviously sucked.
I’ve been several times as well. The atmosphere at the game is not great, and the drinks cost more, but the food is much better. Plus, it is a good excuse to spend a weekend having fun in Dallas.

But on the other hand, had this game been played at Fayetteville, we would have lost.

Year two and we are already making up excuses to protect Jimbo from losing games he's favored in by double digits?

A case for the game staying at JerryWorld b/c we might lose at DWR is a case for not wanting it moved to protect Jimbo from losing to Pig.

This is now two years in a row we were 20 point favorites and barely pulled it out.
