I’m all for the pig game going back to each campus. It’s a joke that we’re still playing it in Dallas.
As for tu, all I care about at this point is winning/competing for national titles & conference championships. If playing them every year makes that more likely to happen I’m for it, but I imagine it makes that more difficult. So frick them. I just hope the people in charge don’t fall for the “they’re scared to play us routine,” and instead continue to think strategically about what gets us closer to the ultimate goal.

you make it sound like that line of thinking is a bad thing. you should really start hanging out with people of your own kind and not take the secrant as gospel.

It does. They get ranked in the top 25 just for putting on the helmet. Beating them does more for us than playing Prairie View again.

I couldn’t disagree more, we get more national exposure from playing teams like Clemson and Miami, and the argument for having two big games on top of our SEC schedule is absurd. Talk about player injuries and wear and tear on the team. Those things add up and make it even harder to win

There has to be a bit on honesty here - we scheduled Clemson in 2014 - when they were ranked 16. We dropped Oregon (top 5) to do it.
We lucked out that Clemson is ranked as high as they are - and are we really working the South Carolina recruit market?

We are working the Texas recruiting market
And us getting national exposure while the horns do not get national exposure only benefits us more

don't know why everyone complains about that game. I like it. It's a yearly game in our own backyard and our fans consistently outnumber Hog fans. Extend that bitch as long as possible!
This.
Hella fun game to attend, too.

I am just happy to see so many Aggies not wanting to play Texas.
It shows how much we have moved on mentally which is the best thing that can happen to us.
We will play them again eventually because one day the sport will contract and a sure money maker like that won’t be ignorable anymore.
But the farther out that day is the better off we will be on that day.

Agree to disagree. Makes us look petty and weak - all the things we accuse them of.
Anyone remember “anytime, anywhere”?

Yeah, and they told us to pound sand. So guess what? They don't get to turn around and decide "ok now's a good time." Nah bruh.

TBird - you are better than that. Acting like it doesn’t make us look petty, but using the “na-nanny-boo-boo” defense is sad.

Actually, my argument is from a business standpoint. t.u. has proven throughout their history that they will throw us under the bus at the drop of a hat the minute they feel they no longer have the upper hand in the athletic relationship. We've seen this time and time again. When you have a business partner that has proven themselves to be untrustworthy, it would be foolish for you to hop right back in bed with them just because they say you're "scared" to do so. Especially when jumping back into that bed not only makes you vulnerable again, but ALSO helps out that untrustworthy partner--who is in their less than savory position in the first place BECAUSE of their willingness to throw you under the bus.
No, this isn't a "na-nanny-boo-boo” defense. This is being smart and not repeating the same mistakes just to measure our dicks in the short term.
ETA: And keep in mind that I'm someone who initially was quite morose over the prospect of potentially losing the t.u. game. I grew up with the rivalry. My dad worked on Bonfire and I attended it in person on campus growing up. It's a huge deal.
I'm pleasantly surprised and thankful that I don't miss the game more, but more importantly I'm not going to let emotion dictate that I advocate for a business arrangement that will hurt my alma mater athletically. I love TAMU far more than I love to BTHO t.u.

Wrong. It's a "Fool me once, shame on me, fool me twice, I must be an Aggie."

I'm in favor of bringing the game back, but not until the playoffs expand to 8 (assuming making the playoffs is a goal of the program). Otherwise we either have an unnecessarily difficult a schedule or we're locked out of any other interesting OOC games.
And I like the idea of playing it labor day weekend, with hype building up all offseason and getting it out of the way before conference play. Conversely, it also makes a lot of sense to put it back around TDay where it's always been and in line with all the other major rivalry games.

Maybe once. But having gone to 5 of the 7 Pig games there it's stale as hell now. It never comes close to selling out, the JerryWorld prices for everything are ridiculous, and Arlington along w/the area that surrounds the stadium straight up sucks.
Taking that game back to campus would be a hell of a lot more fun than the overly corporate office park convention center atmosphere at that stadium.
A once in a blue moon one off fake classic game at the start of the year vs a random OOC would be much more interesting for a whore yourself out for money game than wasting it yearly on an actual long time rival.
Maybe if we were playing Arkansas yearly at the Cotton Bowl, a stadium that actually has character, with the atmosphere of the State Fair surrounding it I'd feel differently but we aren't so it's moot.
On top of that it makes our scheduling a chore to get done since we are forced to worry about losing a home game every year and that severely reduces the amount of schools we are able to work with.
