With our schedule and talent, I expect nothing less than 10-2.

Woah woah woah

New coaching new schemes

That alone is worth 2 losses

I’m not going to jump off a cliff for 8-4, I’d be ok with 9-3, 10-2 would be great

But be real, you can’t throw down 10-2 as year one expectation after we just blew it all up, that’s not realistic

9-3 or better under this new coaching staff and scheme would be acceptable, I’d probably take 8-4 as well (which is what I’m predicting).

The schedule is fairly favorable, but as we’ve seen just because you bring in a bunch of high ranked recruits, doesn’t mean you automatically win games. We’ve got paper talent on campus, hopefully Elko and Co can develop it into real talent, unlike Jimbo.

7-5 - Misery. We’re all doomed to repeat this forever.

8-4 - Won’t feel great, but it’s Elko’s first year and technically an improvement.

9-3 - Feeling good, signifant step forward and something Jimbo and Sumlin only accomplished once each.

10-2 - Huge step forward, we’re winning it all in 2025

11-1 - We’re an unstoppable juggernaut of football that will rule CFB for the next decade

12-0 - The SECrant is forced to shut down due to the tsunami of aggydom. I have no non-A&M friends left.

What makes this funny is because if it happens, it will be because of Missouri

I'm torn between these two, there seems to be more unknowns when it comes to our opponents this year than I can remember in a while. Hopefully having the tougher games at home will matter for a change this year, I'd say I'm around 60% toward the 9 win mark.

8-4 means you only made the short putts, and didn't play up even once. I would expect 9-3.

The portal and instant transfers have devalued the idea that it takes a few years to get "your system" installed with "your guys." The game now is about getting the guys who showed up this year in the best position to win using a system that can be loaded quickly.

Next year, a pile of "your guys" will be on someone else's payroll, be it NIL or pro, You'll have new ones, and the world is new again. Even if you recruit a stud 5* multi generational aggie lover, it makes zero sense for him to ride the pine and wait his turn. And less to stay in school once he gets hyped after a couple of years. OL as a possible exception.

SHOW ME THE MONEY.

CFB is in sore need of contracts. I like the Mike Leach recommendation.

First time, huh.

Honestly, 8-4. Elko's first year at the helm shouldn't expect immediate results, have to give him time.

Rant will be destroyed if we win the new CFP

We went 10-2 with a much tougher schedule in 2012. That season had even more unknowns.

I’m sorry, I didn’t know that Johnny and Mike Evans were walking out onto Kyle field this year

Connor Weigman will win the Heisman either this year or next. Mark my words.

To me it always matters how and to who you win and lose to when judging an acceptable record.

For example, y'all know my well worn stance that while it was great that we won an Orange Bowl under Jimbo the teams on the schedule that season ended up being so thoroughly mediocre that anything less than the record we had would have been a failure in my mind. We essentially went 1-1 vs good/complete teams that season and losses to anyone else would have total failures on the staff.

All that said, going by pre-season predictions of what the media believes our schedule will look like? I'd say 7-5 is the absolute floor for an acceptable record.

This assumes we are in the game in the second half of all losses and there are no major injury issues. How the team finishes the season would also be important. Losing 4-5 by mid October would be awful BUT if the team finished 5-0 w/road wins at USCe/Auburn, a win over what should be a highly ranked sip, and a decent bowl opponent it would indicate things were looking up. Of course if we had a season like the Sumlin years where we race out to a 5-0 or 6-0 record only to finish 8-4? Well... there had better be serious injury issues for that to not be a massive red flag.

Currently Notre Dame, LSU, Missouri, and Texas would be the teams most would expect we lose to w/Florida and Auburn being the next two most likely games for a potential loss. Losing all 4 of the big ranked games and splitting w/Florida and Auburn would suck but be somewhat understandable for a first year HC.

I do think the schedule does set Elko up for a big season if the lines come together and we have few serious injuries though. We only have 4 true road games (UF, AU, USCe, MSU) and all the pre-season ranked teams are at home. I could easily see 10-2 (or maybe even better depending on the breaks) from this squad. Of course I can also see 6-6 if the wheels come off.

If Bowling Green n Hawgs games were a little more polished then we are ranked 20 probably. I'm not worried, some shallower crossing routes and moving the pocket I think help Reeds completion %.... maybe feed the sweed. Mizzou will have something coming out of the bye... but those 2 little RBs pla t their foot n get north n south so well that I never saw them cut all the way back vs Vandy. SO BACKSIDE DE END NEEDS TO CONTAIN QB ON PLAYACTION BOOTLEGS. Unless.Mizzou morphs into something then they should struggle to March the ball on us if we take away deep routes just like Vandy did. LSU n S Car should be AT LEAST 1 win. Give me some Kool aid

Sticking with all of this still. 8-4 just seems more disappointing now after getting ranked in the top 15 and considering two of our losses are to USCe and Auburn which we kinda had penciled in as wins to start the season.

USCe loss isn't looking as bad now, they are playing about as good as anyone in the league, sucks we got blown out though. The Auburn loss is unacceptable. Really need a win Saturday to close out on a high note, losing the last 3 conference games will be disappointing to say the least.
