And I would dispute the idea that starting him vs SC would be "burning his redshirt". If you play him and he's not ready, you can still sit him after and preserve the redshirt; or you play him and he is ready, in which case you don't want or need the redshirt.

Either way, Weigman's redshirt should have no bearing on what Jimbo chooses to do this week

He can play four games without burning a redshirt. And he doesn't need one anyway. He's gone to the NFL after JR year, absolutely SR year regardless. My biggest issue with Fisher is that he hasn't adopted to modern football very well. Offense, portal, etc ...

I agree with you on this.

Welp.

Our savior can't even get a hail mary pass off. Pretty clear why he's been riding pine. He's nowhere near ready for the game speed of SEC football.

He looked fine.

Haynes King, on the other hand lost his 3rd game in a row and has been injured every time he starts against a P5 opponent. He's also sporting a passer rating of around 100 VS four FBS opponents. No reason to waste another snap on him if Weigman is healthy.

He looked like a deer in the head lights who is nowhere near ready for this level. Don't sugar coat it.

We aren't going to win dick with him this year.

Maybe he can be good in the future but this year is over. 6-6 is now best case scenario and we are probably more likely to be 4-8.

What's the best scenario if King, who has lost every game vs FBS competition this year, starts every remaining game?

Won't beat another SEC opponent.

If he was able to stay healthy 7-5 would be attainable though very difficult.

The issue here is that with King playing Jimbo is willing to use the entire playbook. With CW I can guarantee he's going to turtle the offense and go hyper conservative so I doubt we will be able to score enough to keep up w/OM. I also don't like the odds of a true freshman going into Auburn to win. UF I like our odds b/c it's at home. Umass should still be a gimmie. LSU is looking like a sure loss.

All this seems to ignore that King sucks and has lost to every FBS opponent he's faced this year.

How you think he's all of a sudden going to start winning every game is baffling.

King has improved to serviceable. He was playing pretty well last night. He can't carry the team but can be effective if the rest of the unit is executing well. I don't expect he will be able to start next week because of the weird nature of his non-contact arm injury.

Is there any timeline for Max Johnson being available again? I expect Weigman will get his first start next week out of necessity.

Our biggest continuing issue on offense is with the OL pass protection. The QBs can't trust the OL to give them a clean pocket. The shuffling of players and overall inexperience is killing us.

Defensively, we have got to get a better pass rush out of our DL and get some of our DB's healthy.

Was watching some other games yesterday and apparently it isn’t a rule that you have to let the other team hit your QB on every pass play.

I’m not blaming any of our QBs at this point - they will be lucky to survive this season. Our O-Line is arse (my dudes).

Since he returned from his benching, here are his stats

53% completion%
5.3 yards per attempt
3 TDs
4 INTs

Ignoring his abomination vs App St, those improved stats would:

-rank outside of the Top 100 for completion %
-rank outside the Top 100 for ypa
-make him one of only a handful of starting P5 QBs with a negative TD/INT ratio

For reference, Kellen Mond was awful as a true freshman and he still managed

52%
6.1 YPA
8 TD
6 INT

Whoever is to blame at this point is irrelevant, a guy whose been on campus for 3 years to be this bad is very likely un-salvageable

Just one minor correction was needed.

I thought that thrust into that situation, 2 and 10 in a hostile environment and basically no practice Weigman did pretty damned well. I mean, he actually stepped into his throws and tried to run the offense. I expected him to pull down the ball and run a few time but he stood in there and took the shots instead

He's easily the best QB on this team, and if he starts the rest of the year we will be in MUCH better shape for next year.

Weigman was fine given the circumstances Fisher has put him in. Not a single game snap all year. In addition…

Almost zero pass blocking.
No running game.
No misdirection.
No creativity.
A line that needs absolute quiet to avoid movement before the snap.

Weigman looked fine considering the dumpster fire on offense. Not sure how anyone can criticize him at all. Cross hairs really ought to be on Jimbo for not giving Weigman some game time if he is your projected QB next year.

Fisher sucks arse on multiple levels,

Wow you nailed it.

4 TD, 0 INT, over 300 yards but not ready for this level.

Sorry, he still looked like arse against USCe.

Not so much vs Ole Miss which is very encouraging.
