The SEC has been doing pretty well until Texas made it about them.

So now one of the better rivalries born out of the 2012 expansion is at risk.

Ive seen talk of LSU A&M being an opener too. I see us being in the same pod anyway.

I am hoping it is us (a&m and lsu) and the miss schools in the same pod. Would like to keep the game between us at the end of the year

The shitty thing is that no matter how you slice it, good yearly games are gonna be lost.

Yep. I think this is being driven by sports programming companies. Eventually I'm afraid they will kill the golden goose. But if it is going to happen then eff it, let's beat the hell outta everybody

there's really no way around that. Each expansion this has happened. I think even pods will be tough just because it's tough to build pods that make everyone happy.

One option that is intriguing to me is 1 perm rival in each pod plus 3 in own pod. Then rotate pairing pods and make that a division each year. Division winners go to ATL but the divisions aren't permanent.

You play everyone home/home every 6 years that way and you still get 6 annual games. May be the only way to maintain long-held games.

It would be nice to keep playing LSU on Rivalry Weekend and force the Red River game to do the same. It makes way more sense to me.

im pretty sure bjork has constantly laughed at any notion of a pod for years. but it does make some sense

i wonder if we go two divisions but you only play 3 teams in your division every year, play the other four in your division on a rotating basis, and then fill out the rest of your schedule with the other division

I do, I think you see Oklahoma and OSU the Longhorns at Arkansas and Aggie vs LSU at Thanksgiving

Can't imagine OU and tu giving up the October date and State Fair. I definitely see the resumption of the A&M tu game to close out the season. Who else would they call their rival if they keep the OU game in October?

We've got some decent history with LSU, but not the 100 years we have with tu.

I guess Arkansas needs a Rivalry Weekend game.

That leaves open the possibility of Missouri playing Kansas again.

A&M/LSU on Thanksgiving weekend needs to end anyways. It's a terrible match for that weekend b/c the school are too far from each other to have full stadiums due to the holiday.

A&M/LSU should be he opening conference game as a throwback to when it was one of their first games of the year as an OOC matchup.

A&M/Texas should go back to Thanksgiving b/c it will ensure the stadiums are full due to fan proximity and is a far better fit for rivalry weekend.

IDK about pod or division or perm rival, but the game will continue. Just won't be rivalry weekend. It's been fun. Also very frustrating.

What?! These games have been great, and I think all have had full stadiums except for maybe the 2016 game when everyone had given up on Sumlin.

No they have not. I've been to them all. They were nowhere near full. LSU is not bringing enough fans to fill out those corners and our fans aren't taking them either.

Like it or not, Texas will do that b/c of the sheer amount of hate between the schools and the massive amount of fans in close proximity.

RC is right. It was always a little light on turkey day.
