And you had the audacity to accuse others of flippant dismissal

Pat is blind. We could lose the rest of our games and he’d still be pro BK
Posted on 1/6/18 at 8:58 pm to Roger Klarvin
What else are you implying?
We made it a point to drive into the lane more today (Starks especially) and had tons of missed shots down low, post lay-ins included. We had plenty of missed wide open 3s too. We weren’t consistently taking ill advised/contested shots like we did against Bama and still had a terrible shooting percentage. How is that coaching?

Here's how it goes:
People bitch about bad basketball, you accuse other Aggies of being shite fans who know nothing about basketball and demand in depth breakdowns of why we suck. Sometimes you get them, sometimes you don't. When you don't you spoke the ball in victory, when you do you flippantly dismiss the critiques and move on. And we do this over and over again, every year.
We have distinct patterns of bad basketball in Aggieland. Poor fundamentals, poor offensive design and this year poor perimeter defense. The former two are clearly systemic and not getting better. Billy Kennedy has THE WORST winning percentage of any current coach in the SEC, and fourth worst ALL-TIME among SEC coaches at one school for at least 5 years.
We have ALWAYS missed a ton of threes and layups under Kennedy. That's what poorly coached teams do, among other things. Every game is just affirmation of the obvious at this point.

Duke lost. UNC lost. Xavier lost. Oklahoma lost. Louisville lost. UK lost.
Notre Dame beat NC state without its 2 best players by 30, and tonight nc state scored 96 to beat duke.

Half of the teams that played today lost.
Posted on 1/6/18 at 11:29 pm to SafetySam
That’s true. A whole bunch of them were really good teams as well.

But none of that makes Kennedy a good coach
Posted on 1/7/18 at 1:07 am to Nguyening
None of that changes that BK sucks

And I'd trade Kennedy for each and every one of those coaches.
Body of work, and at this point even an unknown is better than the known failure.

Anyone want to discuss what we did poorly this game specifically or are we just going to keep throwing out ad hominems and feeling proud of ourselves?
I thought it was obvious from my post.
Tyler Davis should not be shooting threes unless he ends up with the ball at the end of the shot clock. If he is shooting then in other circumstances, that is bad coaching.

He’s clearly worked on his shot. He’s tied for third on the team for 3p%. He only takes completely wide open ones. His 33.3% shooting 3s is equivalent to 50% from 2.
I am 100% okay with him take those shots.

stats with such a small sample size are irrelevant. robert williams made like 14 of his first 16 FTs last year.

Yes and no. He took a grand total of 1 3 point shot his first 2 years. He's taken 12 in 15 games. He clearly feels confident in it and if they're going to leave him open then why not. Its a better option than most of shots, especially from distance. Wilson (2nd most attempts) shoots 29.5%, Trocha (25 more attempts than Davis) 29.7%, Starks (21 more attempts) 24.2%, and it just gets uglier.

Dear God I had no idea that a 33%-shooting center was our 3rd best 3-point shooter
To be clear, that says a hell of a lot more about the state of our team than Davis' ability (no offense to Davis, whose game I love because it reminds me of Tim Duncan's). You summed it up nicely in your next post when you said:

For whatever reason, Kennedy has always struggled to recruit or develop shooters; in most of his seasons, we've had 1-2 good options and maybe 1 other decent option.

I'm not doubting your research, but how the hell did you find this statistic?
