Maybe House just needs a mental break. He hasn't had a breakout game yet, and maybe this is a tactic to get his mind right. Hopefully, anyway.

Ugly win. But done without your best player. Bodes well for down the line.
Still, we must perform better Saturday or Tennessee will beat us. Barnes was a smart, solid hire on their part. He'll have them back as a contender quickly.

Hop's interpretation of Kennedy's post-game comments is that it was a "team/behavior" issue.

Welp...
Good News: we won
Bad News: we will be seeing A LOT more zone moving forward.
I'm really really hoping that this was just a terrible shooting night all around, and the young guys still aren't quite comfortable playing on the road (I believe this is only the second true road game excluding neutral site), BUT I'm kind of concerned about our zone offense. I really thought the big guys in the middle this year could help to bust the zone but we had a lot of trouble just getting the ball to them. Caruso and Collins consistently had issues penetrating and making plays, so we ended up seeing a lot of unproductive passing around the top of the key again. The other thing we need to do is ATTACK the basket off made baskets in transition. Don't let them have time to set their defense, especially on nights when you're struggling. Force the issue with pace. Run the floor and attack the basket.
I'm trying not to overreact about the zone offense, given the fact that we won, but it has me concerned moving forward. Mainly because I just despise watching what a zone defense potentially does to the pace of the game, it can turn it into a shite show like tonight. But a win is a win, and they shot free throws well tonight....on the road.

I feel like we missed lots of wide open shots. Just straight cold. If it happens again on Saturday then I'll be concerned.

Yeah we definitely had wide open looks and just plain missed them. Hopefully it was just a bad night.

This. We got a ton of wide open 3s & mid range baseline shots that didn't go in.

What was the final turnover number? We were extremely sloppy with our passing
Posted on 1/7/16 at 1:27 pm to Old Sarge
We had 11 to state's 14. Really not too bad.

Passing seemed to be a bigger issue than shooting, we could not work the ball inside effectively. Too many trips down the court were pass around the top of the key for a while -> jack up a three.

Exactly! And that's what kind of has me concerned moving forward. You're going to have off nights shooting the ball, but I really thought we'd be able to work the ball inside the zone this year to beat it from the inside instead of having to rely on 3 pointers to break the zone. The guards have to be able to find that pass though, and also be able to penetrate off the dribble.
It's obviously still early yet, and I really do think Davis will learn how to find the pockets inside and distribute the ball appropriately. Last two games he's picked up two quick fouls which means he's sitting for the majority of the first half, and it's taking him out of the flow.

When we passed in the paint it was stupid shite right into states hands
Makes me feel good though that we can play THAT bad and still put away state on the road without House
That would never have happened last year

So how do we match up with Tennessee?
Posted on 1/9/16 at 10:04 am to Farmer1906
If we get the 5 seed then I want the game to be in Denver for very selfish reasons.
Posted on 1/9/16 at 10:46 am to Old Sarge
Anyone hear about House's status today?
Posted on 1/9/16 at 10:52 am to Projectpat
Every line is expecting him to play
I guess we won't know for certain til the team shows up
