He’s from Harrisburg, sometimes kids want/need to get away from their hometown area
He looks like a beast, I hope we keep him

Andre White heard all the chatter and knew what most people thought -- he would eventually wind up at Penn State.
However, the Harrisburg (Pa.) High linebacker shocked plenty of folks in a pair of states -- Pennsylvania and Texas -- when he announced Friday night during an unofficial visit to campus that he committed to Texas A&M.
"I think it does (shock people) because a lot of people thought I was going to Penn State because of (former Harrisburg teammates) Micah Parson and and Damion Barber being there," the 6-foot-3, 224-pound White said. "But I didn't feel that was right for me. That's why I committed to Texas A&M."
White is on an unofficial visit to Texas A&M, and it runs into Sunday.
However, as soon as he got to campus, he felt at home. He bonded well with the coaching staff and he loved the feel of the campus and the atmosphere.
"I heard a lot of people saying you get feeling when you get on campus," White said. "I love the coaching staff and being in Texas. They were very genuine. I felt like I had a connection with them. They sold me on the school. I am happy to be an Aggie."
White is best suited to play outside linebacker, but he said a move inside was also discussed with the coaching staff.
"They have a need for linebackers," White said. "They have positions open, and I have an opportunity to play either outside or inside."
During a conversation with defensive coordinator Mike Elko, White let it out where he wanted to go.
"He's a great guy," White said. "I met with him and talked to him a while. He is the first person I announced it to. I felt like I had a great connection with him."
White also has a strong feeling about playing for new Aggies coach Jimbo Fisher.
"He's a great coach," White said. "I like him as a head coach. We have a good relationship and that's why I decided to commit."
White's offer list included Penn State, USC, UCLA, Arizona, Maryland, West Virginia, Pittsburgh and Rutgers.
He had a strong showing at several The Opening Regionals, including one in California and another in New Jersey. While in California, he visited USC and UCLA, and it led to those offers. It also made him a national recruit, which is when Texas A&M became involved in his recruitment.

Might be hard to keep him. Fell in love the first visit. It’s not like the take on Leal where he chose us over Texas due to potential NFL possibilities being in the SEC vs the BDF.

TA saying visits for Banks and Christian Harris went very well. I’m still pretty skeptical we can land Harris, but it would be hilarious if we stole Banks from Texas and could totally see it happening

Wilson had his to say about Texas after his commitment:
quote:
"“They were close,” Wilson said of Texas. “I’m not going to lie, the official visit made me think about them a little more. In the end, I’ve watched a lot of people go to Texas with a ton of ability and maybe not achieve what I thought they could. I didn’t want to be one of those guys.”
