I just don't see it. Hope he proves me wrong next year, but honestly I think this is where he peaks (top 25 defense). He isn't a bad coach, but I also don't think he deserves to be paid like a Top 5 Defensive Coordinator (at least not until he performs like one).
I mean, at this point, we should know better than to give coaches a blank check after only showing flashes of success. But like you said, not my oil money, so who am I to whine about how rich people waste their money?

It wasn’t a loss, but getting so close to almost losing to a terrible Arkansas team.

I think 9-3 is realistic with 10-2 being the ceiling next year.
The piece that we are missing is talented depth. Auburn, LSU, Alabama and UGA have had years of consecutive top 10 and top 5 recruiting classes. We’ve had one, and are working on 2 in a row.
The most important part of Jimbo being successful is recruiting like that. We just don’t have the talent at depth yet to compete with those teams.
I just don’t see us being elite until we have 4-5 years of top 10/5 recruiting classes in a row.
