We won 7 games and lost 5

Why? We don’t have a great qb and we lost several key skill position players at the end of last year

Now to burst your bubble. Next year will be better but 8-4 or 9-3 is probably the absolute ceiling next year if Mond is qb.

I like him....he’s good but not great. So regardless of oline improvements don’t get focused on 10 wins or you’ll only wind up disappointed

We’d have gone 9-3 THIS year with next years schedule, and Auburn loses everything that made them good this year.

I’m fine with waiting until 2020 because that was the year we all pointed to when Jimbo was hired, but he needs to go 10-2.

Mond isn't good. He's average. Below average on a bad day.

Arkansas and South Carolina are not going to willfully give games to the Aggies in perpetuity and Miss State is a cut above them. There has to be significant improvement next year because I don't see Auburn, Bama and LSU as realistic. Let me see, the score with Arkansas this year was 31 to 27. Next year they will have a brand new high powered head coach. I know I risk being unpopular on this board. But temper your expectations.

Yeah, I've had the nightmare where there is a loss to either Arkansas and/or South Carolina and then to Miss State. That could make 2020 very ugly indeed. And then Jimbo would kind of be in trouble with 45 million owed. But that's never going to happen right?

$45M would be after 2021. $52.5M after 2020.

The odds are really against that happening

But

LSU
Bama
Auburn

They represent 3 games I’m automatically chalking up for L’s in 2020

If we lose all three of those, Roger Klarvin will lick Billy Kennedy's butthole again.

LSU probably does as well. Joe Burrow is gone. I'm sure Dave Aranda will come up as a HC candidate somewhere and Joe Brady will probably land somewhere else as a full Offensive coordinator. Some NFL team will probably come calling for him.

Talent wise, they're not there yet and may never be there ever again.

That's not to say we will never lose against them ever again, but it's going to take their new coach (whoever it is) some time to assemble his troops.

While all three teams are capable of reloading, here's what Auburn, Alabama and LSU lose

Auburn loses

2 starting WR
4 starting OL (6 total OL)
Starting TE
2 starting DL (up to 4 if Davidson and Bryant declare)
2 starters from the secondary (CB, S)

Alabama loses

3 starting WR (NFL draft)
Up to 3 starting OL (NFL draft)
Starting QB (NFL draft)
Starting RB (NFL draft)
2 starting DL
up to 4 starting DB (NFL draft, graduation)

LSU loses

Starting QB
1 WR (NFL Draft)
2 starting OL (up to 4 if they declare)
Starting TE if he declares
Starting RB (NFL draft)
1-3 starting DL (depending on who declares)
3/4 starting DB (NFL draft)

Yes, I agree with you. My only point is that I've seen posts indicating in 2020 the Aggies could be undefeated going into the Alabama and LSU games (perhaps they can). But after this year it's obvious more retooling has to be done. I finally found the LSU postgame video and in it Jimbo and the players said they got beat bad and have to play harder and learn to finish games. That's fine but I've heard it all year in almost every postgame. Jimbo acknowledges he has to better prepare the team. It's on him. Look, I understand he's only two years into this and only signing the second recruiting class he is totally responsible for (2018 excluded).
One other point is LSU may be saying this about us:

Talent wise, they're not there yet and may never be there ever again.

I’m on the 11-1 +/-1

If jimbo goes 8-4 with next year’s schedule then I’ll have given up all hope
