I'm telling you, the administration listens / listened to Looch. He pushed for Sumlin when we hired Sherman and he pushed even harder when we fired Sherman.
I remember Roland Martin pushing hard for Sumlin too, even back in 2010 after the Mizzou loss. Which is fine, that all worked out.
Unfortunately I think these events show us if we didn't have Looch we could have worse. At least Texags has Olin so if they represent us on other radio stations/websites they have SOMEONE who is a real professional that can do the speaking.

Regent Wilson brought Sumlin here, along with Byrne, but a big part of their consideration was that Looch (and others plugged into the program) had so much faith in him.
Jim Wilson lived like 2 houses down from the Sumlins in Houston. They are good friends and the two families have been since Sumlin's original stop at A&M. He was the regent liaison for athletics. He forced Byrne's hand on Sherman because he already knew Sumlin would come. I think their wives are BFFs btw.
Looch had no part in that. Wilson is the person who leaked a lot to Luicci and was his source on conference realignment and the like. He and Wilson are friends. He knew Sumlin. That doesn't mean he helped bring Sumlin to A&M.

The mods are asses. I am IP banned on TexAgs for copying a comment from shaggy and bringing it over. I shot an email telling them what it was and link and they didn't care. Liucci never gets a penny from me.

I really believe that the majority of the time he just acts like he sat on info when in reality he didn't have the inside scoop.
I also don't think he sits on the stuff he does scoop out of integrity, it's really because he knows he has to brown nose the staff or risk his only source of info drying up.

I know this is about our crazy arse insiders but I want to take a second an thank Chicken for keeping this site open and free. I get plenty of info right here.

Pubes is the "t.u." of message board insiders. He would NEVER post on a board he can't control, such as this one. Too much of a gaping pussy.

Olin is great. I have never understood why he isn't the lead editor. If Liucci would let him edit his articles they would improve 100%. I felt like I was reading a high school newspaper every time I read one of his articles on premium.

Luicci has been on board with Sumlin for as long as Wilson has. Luicci and Wilson worked together in bringing Sumlin here with other Sumlin supporters.
Wilson forced the hand, but Luicci was involved from the beginning. That's my understanding.

Chicken is the fricking man, I hope he is making good money from this site. Best message board layout I have seen.

There's no doubt that Wilson used Liucci and Texags to sway public opinion to the SEC. And no doubt he used him to sway opinion on other things. I'm sure he and Looch are friends. But to say Looch was involved is overreaching.

I see Texags has gone scorched earth motherfricker on every thread about this, they all gone

This. I've been away from A&M since 2009, but I majored in Sports Management, worked in the athletic department here and there and had friends that worked in there. Looch is just a figurehead for them. He may have gained some credence since I left, but they just use him to sway public opinion due to his audience on TA.
That's the problem that Hamm is facing here. First, he's the perpetrator of the incident and second, he has no shot in winning a war against Looch.
The SID can take Hamm's credentials away and have no issues come from it. You take Looch's away and they have an angry, dedicated fanbase of chin pubes after them and whether you like it or not, he is synonymous with A&M athletics.

I definitely agree with this. He has a solid control on this site and shows leniency here. I've been banned once here and yeah, I technically didn't follow a rule, but I could have gotten it back if I wanted. I just like this name better
On TexAgs, I think I had 5 accounts banned during my time at A&M before just giving up on the site. I was born and raised an LSU fan, so I would try to back them when they started to get bashed every so often (this was pre-SEC A&M) and that would get an insta-ban. Chicken allows for debate as long as it doesn't cross lines and that's why the majority of my work day is spent on here

How much of this is real and how much is perceived? I always wonder how much "influence" TA actually has or it's just what all the keyboard heroes over there think they have.

Texags really did help change the opinion of the A&M fanbase for the SEC move. In 2010 it seemed most were on the fence or wanted to stay, while in 2011 it was 90% go. The LHN created the negative energy to drive the move but Texags focused it.

When I was at A&M, it was hard to have a sports conversation with someone else outside of my friends without hearing "Well Billy said on TexAgs..." or "I heard on TexAgs..." or some line like that.
I think a lot (pretty much those on here) realize there are other, better options, but to put it in LSU perspective, it's like the many (including myself) who followed Shea and Sonny from Scout to 247. I think this site is better for A&M talk with a lot less homerism compared to TA, but back then, TA was the cool and perceived only place to go and it has stood the test of time

There was 45,000 plus on texags at one point during signing day. They have about 10,000 subscribers and several local businesses that advertise through them. I'd say the following is real.

This.
Since I have been on TA, I would have to say that realignment was by far the site's finest hour.

Easily
The Rivalries war with Chip Brown during realignment was awesome. We forced him to make his twitter private for like a month
