Marshall still expected as well. Harris is the big blow. Williams is going to sip so their lawyers can keep him out of jail

Today is the 1st day to officially enter the portal. I think anyone that doesn't enter today, especially guys like Marshall or Lucas with obvious issues, the odds of them sticking around go up. Doesn't mean they would be a lock to stay, but I think it's a sign try aren't as much of a lock to leave as some have assumed.

Do we still even want this guy? I know he's talented as hell, but does he bring more drama and locker room discord than he does production?

You keep talent if youre able to and it makes sense. Even Von Miller had some discipline problems when he was a freshman (not to the extent Marshall, Harris, & others obviously, but still). If the kid wants to straighten up and play, give him a shot. Different story if we are talking elevated misdemeanors/felonies, anything involving violence.

Everything we heard sounded like Marshall was trouble in the locker room along with the others, but if his suspension has opened his eyes and he wants to better the team, you give him a second chance. And do the same for 2nd and 3rd string guys too, not just because he has the talent to be a starter. Remember, you want guys who want to be here and buy into the system.

Not sure, all we can go off is there's not much reason for him to still be here if we don't want him.

With the two today we are at a nice even 20 I believe. It would be interesting to see where historical that class of 20 would score, I think it would be a top 15 class year in and year out maybe top 10 with Williams. That's just crazy to think about and hard to fathom it being good in the long run, portal or no portal.

Just saw that Stowers is in. We REALLY need a portal QB. Also, if Achane declares, that only leaves us with Daniels, Moss, and Crownover....and there are rumors that Moss might be homesick and could transfer. Jimbo had better hit the portal fast to pick up some replacements.

We’re gonna lose a good bit of guys in the portal, I think we knew this and just gotta accept it. But there’s gonna be tons of guys hitting the portal that A&M can go after. Justin Flowe and Tony Grimes are both in the portal and A&M needs to make a call to them tonight!

I see we offered the Guard from Bama (Cohen?) I like that

What I wonder is if the A&M situation is about the worst in college football this year? Is it a combination of dismal performance, poor recruiting in 2023 and discontent from the roster? I know all this sound so negative but Fisher bears responsibility (obviously) for the position A&M is in. It sucks!

The QB situation is just gonna be tough as it has been for A&M for a while. We got one five star. He just can't be injured next year.

Agree that Fisher bears full responsibility for the mess he's made of the last two years.

The one surprising thing, and I don't know if it's the boosters or Jimbo, but we've actually managed to keep all of the reliable and talented players on campus. Pretty much everyone that has gone in the portal either couldn't get playing time, had injury issues or off field issues.

I guess I'm saying, it could be a hell of a lot worse, a bunch of teams are losing starters because the school and/or coach can give them what they need.

I agree but the portal just opened. It's just that after the signing of the class last year and then all the innuendo about paying for players (cheating) and then Saban's talk and Jimbo's response seemed to send this spiraling. Jimbo was ready to take Saban to the wood shed and give him some West Virginia whup arse. And then the wheels came off. Man a lot has happened in a half year. The sports press hates A&M.

This QB thing, I don't know how it will ever be solved. Every QB wants to be a starter. There are not enough opportunities for the number in the portal.

Finally, Weigman can't get injured next year. Max has to stick. And we need another QB.

Having said all this I think 2023 can and likely will be a much better year.

Seems like a good bit of guys are leaving Bama too. No one is gonna be immune to it, there’s gonna be tons of kids in the portal from everywhere. Jimbo and company need to go get a squad out of the portal

I'm less worried about QB, more worried about CB.

If Weigman gets hurt then we're not achieving any greatness anyway.

Nah, dont let the rant get you all worked up over our situation. Honestly I'd say we are doing much better than expected (assuming we dont have another group of transfers in the next few days) considering how the season went. We might have the highest amount of transfers right now, but there are plenty of teams with a lot in the portal too. Take a look at Alabama.

Yes we are losing a few guys that would start (D Harris) and guys you want around for depth (PJ Williams, Tunmise Adeleye, and a couple others) but you arent seeing a quarter of our starters leaving so rumors of a mass exodus seem to have been false. With NIL and this portal, guys arent going to stick around and wait for playing time, it's just how it is.

Now our 2023 recruiting does leave something to be desired, but it's what you get when you go 5-7, have offensive ranks in the 100s, and lose to teams like App St at home. But thats where the portal will come into play for us too. Jimbo who hasnt used it much since it's inception will need to grab a few guys out of it at postions of need (OL, CB, LB) and the talk on texags is we should pull 6-10 guys from the portal, that would be a good start.

100%, he got himself into this mess, it will be interesting to see how (or if) he can get himself out of it. The rules are changing, adapt or be left behind. We will see how he handles it.

Many are leaving because of lack of playing time, or because they are homesick (look at Earle and Alabama). Others are leaving because they have no choice in the matter (Harris and Williams kicked out of school). If Fisher figures out the portal, then he will probably be fine over the long term. He's never really dabbled in the portal before

I'm still waiting to see who we hire for OC, as that is more important than anything that happens this off-season.

PJ Williams has a pending felony charge for possession of a ton of weed.

Prior to that, Harris and Williams (along with Chris Marshall, I believe) were supposedly smoking weed in the locker room during the trip to South Carolina

Right, but were they kicked out of the university? If so, that's not rats jumping off of a sinking ship. Those are shitheads that could no longer be on the team anyway.

LBs Andre White and Tarian Lee in the portal.

The position group sucked out loud, so these guys are not exactly irreplaceable , but at this point there is literally no one here to replace them.

I don't understand these. It's not like they're great players. They're not even likely to start at a major program.

Can't rule out that they don't appreciate Durkin, either personality or scheme wise
