Calzada wasn’t ready to play, but he found his feet in the 3rd and stepped up. As soon as he was playing better, we started to be able to run as well.

I’m actually confident with him in the saddle the next few games. Our Oline needs work though.

Yeah, it was a little bit surprising but shouldn’t have been. They used the same basic gameplay that LSU did last year. Load the box and play man outside and force receivers to get separation. As soon as Calzada start making completions they had to loosen it up a bit and we could run the ball.

I just can’t be that down on this team after what our defense showed in the 2nd half. That was impressive with all the pressure on them. Last week it was O’Neal, but this week it was Peevy and Antonio Johnson who just played fantastic games and gave us the ability to figure out the offense.

My hope is that Calzada improves over the week, getting all the first team snaps and maybe we can avoid another slow start but at this point it feels like wishful thinking

I don't think I've ever seen a QB that stares down his receivers quite like that kid. What did coastag say on TexAgs? The kid "burns a hole" through his receiver

I will leave my opinions as to the season's outlook off this board. It isn't going to be pretty.

Wouldn’t go quite as far as confident, but agreed. Happy that Calzada got it figured out in the end, and loved seeing the stars rally around him when he did/publicity defend him after.

Staring down Lane just to throw the slant into double coverage 6 times was going to get me a blood pressure medication prescription

VERY glad we have NM not Arkansas next week.

Unfortunately I will legit be out of town then next few weekends. I won't be able to watch the games at all because of family activities. Maybe that isn't a bad thing, and in a way it is nice to have no expectations

Maybe the idea of playing different WR's to keep him from starring down certain guys has some validly. Demas to start the game.

Whew, that "1st down yell" is annoying. When did that yell start? Heard it at least 3 times on that 3rd TD possession. No yell should occur that frequently.

So Demas and Moose get their first catches. It only took a year and 3 games.

A few thoughts:

Calzada looked very serviceable. I doubt he wins us a bunch of games, but I don’t think he’ll cost us a bunch either.

The OL worries the hell out of me. Their development will make or break our season.

We have talent & depth at WR and RB. I hope we find a way to use more than just 3 WRs moving forward.

The defense is amazing. They’re probably better than last year. The vets and young guys are all stepping up. This side of the ball is at a championship level.

As far as development goes… we are 3 games in. At this point we are what we are. I can’t recall a team whose oline play significantly improved unless multiple starters returned from injury. I hope….

That was New Mexico that stuffed our run game in first half. I don’t see Ags having 150 yards rushing until we play PV in late November.. Jimbo’s balanced offense approach is in dire straights. I knew oline was going to be a challenge this year but did not see this coming.

We’ve seen this happen fairly regularly. Teams get better. We have 4 new starters on the OL then another 2 new ones due to injuries plus guys moving positions.

Sure this happens a lot. Does line play get significantly better? Guess it depends on what you define as significant I suppose.

Jimbo knows he has to fix some problems

Thankfully we play a team that starts with A this week that’s not Alabama

DVRd Hogs game. For the 3rd game in a row Jefferson was able to just stand flat footed in the pocket with no pressure at all. This is about to change.

This will be one of those weeks where everyone forgets that our team is pretty stacked and that Jimbo doesn’t lose this kind of game
