What’s the stuff you’ve heard? I’m assuming there is some serious dick swinging going on w/major donors right now.

Bjork gave the BOR a different name of his primary target this past week, then word started leaking yesterday that he was pursuing Stoops. The info was leaked out over the last 24-36 hours by jilted board members and BMAs to create the backlash necessary to oust Bjork and strangle the hire in its crib, before they had to officially nix the contract when presented to them (which would have been a much worse look).

More or less the story I got, though Fisch wasn’t mentioned by name as the original planned hire.

So he lied to the board about his primary target and then trying to cram a Sexton client down our throats at the last minute?

The money isn't the issue as much as Bjork made it seem. From what I heard, our regents (and by extension our boosters) have no issue making the new coach the highest paid coach in America (if the resume warrants it, of course). But what we aren't doing is giving another fully guaranteed contract. Not because we can't afford to, but because boosters have learned that it creates complacency.
Our boosters want the new coach to justify his salary. The buyout they give to the new coach will be one that boosters are comfortable buying out if they need to in a jiff.

Yeah why would anyone come here with those kind of shenanigans? Group of 5 seems like the limit. I still don’t know why we didn’t look at guys like Chadwell or Sumrall.

I disagree. You don’t go from one the best jobs in the country to only having 2 options. Someone like Fisch isn’t going to turn us down.

Not defending the guy because this is turning into quite a shitshow but, did he publicly say or tweet anything about the Stoops hire? Or is this the result of social media giving everyone a public platform and Liucci tweeting the hire out in a hurry to be the first to break it?
That happens quite a bit these days unfortunately with major breaking news. Liucci could have been hearing rumors straight out of Kentucky which were swirling around last night and his tweet might not have had anything to do with Bjork.
Social media makes everything a circus now with all the reporters wanting to be the first to break big news and just plain trolls posting false rumors to rile folks up. Top that off with agents using big money hires to get clients raises.
ETA - well this post didn’t age well if Bjork pulled the crap he did.
