That first article ... not that I need reminding ... but never again should we play those guys.
Screw them.
Loved this part of the second read:

Loved this part of the second read:

To put it into stark perspective, the SEC currently relates to the Big 12 in drafted NFL talent as the Big 12 relates to the halfway point between the MAC and Sun Belt.

No, it's the closest thing TD has to a Gig Em emoticon.

I laugh at this stuff all the way to the bank.
From the sip who tried to cajole me into taking the TM Longhorns Inc. article seriously to the sip who told me "aggy needs to stay in the big XII, because it would be best to not go get destroyed in the SEC.
I laugh at the 27-25 comments and the programs' trajectory afterwards.
I laugh whole heartily at their arrogance, ignorance and everything Inbetween.
I laugh because they flew a banner at their own game to fire an assistant coach.
I laugh because Ketch purposefully inflates their recruit rankings to their own detriment.
I laugh because they believe the hype of Ketch's rankings.
I laugh because they fired a coach with a single losing season because "they're the Jonses".
I laugh because they recruited a 2A QB with a losing record that they rated at 5 star and nobody else wanted (Swoopes) and beat their penises mercilessly over it.
I laugh because they think it's Jeff Fisher's fault that VY is a bust and not because he's a really stupid, albeit talented, human being.
At all of that I laugh.

That is one crawfishing mother fricker ain't it. I love how he begins the second article with he always knew staying in the big 12 was a mistake.

Well, being fair to him, he really DIDN'T want to stay in the B12. From his first article, he lists the following as losers when UTx decided to stay:
quote:
The University of Texas
This is where I went to school. I have my degree from here. It doesn't say Longhorns, Inc on my diploma.
For the life of me, I can't figure out why academic partnerships are forged through athletic conference affiliations, particularly those across state lines, but they are. The school had a chance to build academic partnerships, collaborate in research, shake down the Feds for research grants, and establish visiting professorships with academic equals and superiors like Cal, UCLA, Washington, and Stanford. If you're an engineer, you should be weeping right now. Hard science, the humanities, the arts - they would have all prospered under this arrangement and our academic brand would have grown materially and perceptually.
Now The University of Texas remains in an academic league roughly comparable to the SEC - you remember the SEC, that conference possibility we couldn't possibly entertain because it would diminish our academic brand and we'd be forced into the street agent game? You remember them right? Well, now we're in a place that's totally...similar. But instead of playing Florida, Georgia, LSU, and Tennessee, we're playing Iowa State and Baylor.
.
.
.
Let me write this slowly: The. Texas. Longhorns. Are. Not. A. Business.
We should be run as a business, but we are not a business. Maximization of profit isn't our only endpoint. This is supposed to be fun. Seriously. Fun. And interesting. We've now lost the two best road venues in the league and the 10 team full conference slate now assures us of frequent visits to some of the most depressing venues in the Corn Belt.
Columbia, Missouri - by all accounts a fine little college town, but not exactly Paris - is now our road gem. Our fans can look forward to road trips to Ames, Stillwater, and Manhattan over Seattle, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Eugene, and Phoenix.
Explain to me exactly what this current move did for Longhorn fans? Fans. Me? You? Us? Not Longhorns, Inc.
Now don't get me wrong. The guy's an ignorant, arrogant a-hole overall. He dismisses SEC interest in A&M with typical horn condescension, and doesn't seem to understand that "dumb, mouth breathing" Gene Stallings was actually one who recognized the crappiness of the B12, and was pushing for the SEC.
But he knew the horns should have gone to the PAC in the first place. He realized that the original B12-2 presented a barren schedule, and the new B12-4+2 is an absolute shite show. And in the comments of the second article, he actually seems concerned that A&M might be able to prevent UTx from joining the SEC, if the move were attempted. In that regard, he does stand apart from the majority of his fellow horns who think UTx just needs to whistle for the SEC to come running.

It might help if I looked at the More Emoticons section, wouldn't it?

Alone we can't. However, now we're part of the "gang of five" including Kentucky, Florida, Georgia, and South Carolina.
Add Arkansas and Missouri and that's automatically 7 no votes for t.u.

Yeah, that's what he's worried about. Most horns have no response other than "But we're Texas, of course they'd all want us. They'd probably kick aggy out to get us."
