Nice summary borrowed from a poster on TexAgs
quote:
Guys who are on the board still....
Foster (Virginia Tech), Elko (Notre Dame), Venables (Clemson), Ansley (Alabama), Lupoi (Alabama), Aranda (LSU) & Harlon (Michigan State) & Michigan's guy who's name escapes me right now....
*Notre Dame & LSU play the Citrus Bowl on Jan 1
*Clemson & Alabama either NYE or NYD where 1 or 2 of those guys will come off (the other(s) move on)
*Virginia Tech plays Oklahoma State in the Camping World Bowl on Dec 28
*Michigan State plays Washington State in the Holiday Bowl on Dec 28
*Michigan plays South Carolina in the Outback Bowl on Jan 1
So we should get official word as early as Dec 28/29 & as late as January 8/9...

I wanted him over Chief.

I think it'll be Foster. He has acknowledged that he was close to leaving before we hired Chavis. I think for a long time he was holding out to take over for Beamer and now that it's not going to happen he is ready to move on.
It's actually a really solid move because while Foster may still desire a HC job he is almost 60 so the likelihood of someone offering him one is really pretty small.

Is Foster a DB-focused coordinator?
Posted on 12/14/17 at 4:50 pm to Howdyagssec
Don't we need a coordinator who starts with the back line and moves up?

If we want to find a way to keep Banks then yeah.

Need? I don't think so. I think that is Jimbo's preference but I doubt that we are limiting our search to DB coaches.
1 Dickey OC/QB
2 Graham RB
3 Craig WR
4 Brewster TE
5 Turner OL
6 Price DE
7 Foster DC/LB
8 DB Coach
9 DT Coach
10 Banks ST
Why would it have any affect on Banks?

I think it will be a good coordinator, and obviously recruiting will be great as well. I'd be happy with any of Robinson, Foster, Elko, etc ...

Jimbo Fisher has retained another of Kevin Sumlin's assistant coaches

Jim Turner was an obvious hire. I never understood why Sumlin didn't retain him and instead brought over this dude;

Turner wanted that Miami Vice life
