So who was coaching ST at Bama this season? Was it still Bobby Williams? Is he moving to the consultant staff?
Posted on 1/11/18 at 9:58 pm to wrecking crew
He did. Banks almost stayed but he wasn't going to have the same role and he needed to change it up if he wants to make moves to become a head coach. Totally understandable. We will probably see him on a list of names to become the Aggie head coach in another 10 years or so

He wasn’t staying. Been known on TexAgs for quite awhile

looks like we're considering brad peveto from ole miss as LBers coach. supposedly known for his recruiting prowess more than his coaching acumen which seems to fit jimbos MO.
Posted on 1/12/18 at 6:55 pm to Uncle Gunnysack
Maybe he can start pulling recruits out of N. Shore for us.

So we ditching the liver smoothies and buying hookers for the players?

Freeze as a offensive analyst :), j/k but the corndog melt would reach a new level which would is hard to imagine.

Random poster on TexAgs claiming Peveto to LBers is done deal.
If that’s true, we have only a secondary coach left to hire. It’ll be interesting to see who coaches special teams.

On his intro video, Fisher made a point to say that Graham's ST unit led the nation in blocked kicks. My money is on him.

Peveto officially hired per OM and TAMU sources
Another assistant with ST experience. Maybe we will just do it by committee.

Graham and probsbly some help from Brewster on special teams. Jimbo isn’t letting Peveto neat special teams.

I’m very sorry. He was one of the worst coaches LSU has had in a while, besides our current head coach.
quote:
Good recruiter and decent LB coach. Abject failure at coordinating anything.
Players' families and other coaches seem to like him, a lot.
quote:
Awful ST coach
Didn’t want him anywhere near the LBs/DL
Very good recruiter in Tx, was with Jimbo here in 05-06.
Hell of a sriracha infused bbq sauce.
quote:
Bad coach good recruiter great BBQ
quote:
Great recruiter, terrible position coach
quote:
Decent coach and great recruiter. After the D.C. debacle and he had to leave the first time Saban went after him hard but he was too loyal to Miles to go there.
Not so good as a special teams coordinator
quote:
Overall good dude and solid recruiter.
Whatever unit he is in charge of usually performs subpar.
quote:
Like others have said he’s a great recruiter. Did well in Houston for us. Problem is any other title he holds seems to be mostly for show. Any unit he coaches, you’ll notice there’s probably another guy on staff capable of coaching it, and then there will be chatter that it’s a group effort among several coaches, then that unit will look like shite on the field.
quote:
Very good recruiter. Terrible on-field coach. Was terrible here as co-defensive coordinator. Came back and was equally bad as special teams coach and as a linebackers coach. Miles was loyal to him to a fault.
Orgeron’s first move as permanent head coach was to fire him. Didn’t even wait until after bowl season or Signing Day.
A&M’s hiring of him is almost solely for his recruiting ability.
quote:
Yeah you could honestly say Bradley Peveto’s Special teams got les miles fired, not the offense.
Elite defense and special teams will win you 10 games every year, but under Peveto our special teams was a complete dumpster fire. Quite a few games where teams were given amazing field position all game and an insane amount of kickoffs out of bounds. Actually everything about Peveto’s special teams was dogshit
quote:
Pretty sure he started DJ Welter at MLB over eventual star and NFL player Kendell Beckwith. All you need to know
quote:
Good recruiter for an old weird looking white dude.
Terrible coach amazing intangibles - dem babyback ribs tho.
quote:
Nope, looks like their LB play will take a hit........
quote:
Good News: Great recruiter
Bad News: Horrible coach, your special teams will suffer.
How bad was he?
LSU opted to have no Special Teams coach on staff than have Peveto last year.
quote:
Terrible coach, big rah rah zero substance. Obviously has a relative at 247 that gives him credit for players Corey Raymond and/or Frank Wilson recruited to LSU.
Bad hire. Arranda’s first official act as DC was to get Brad Dale away from the D.
quote:
Not that good a coach, but he's a GREAT recruiter. If he was still on LSU's staff, sadly, he would be the 3rd best coach on there behind Aranda and Raymond.
quote:
Great hire for recruiting purposes. BDP is a Texas guy and really should do well in that regard. Not a great coach, but he has a mean BBQ sauce
quote:
Prayers sent you gonna need it!!!
quote:
Great recruiter, average LB coach, great guy, horrendous coordinator.
quote:
Then how did he completely destroy a really good 1AA program at Northwestern State? I'll give you a hint he recruited shitty players.
But look I am happy he is a position coach at AnM, very happy.
quote:
You’ll get downvoted but this is true. One of the worst position coaches I’ve ever seen at LSU and his only recruits at Ole Miss are two 3*’s, which, for reference, Frank Wilson (a guy who can actually recruit) is doing better than at UTSA. 247 gives him credit for guys like Rashard Lawrence which wasn’t his pickup at all.
Grossly overrated as a recruiter IMO to go along with the fact that everything that he was ever involved with went to absolute shite. I’ve never been as happy to see a coach go as I was with him.
