I'm of the thinking that it will eventually come back. Idk if that will be in 10 years or 40, but it'll happen.

Definitely not missing it until it does, but when it does, we had better do everything in our power to protect our interests. Because t.u. always looks out for theirs.

They’ll have to pass a state law.

Wow, well let me start by apologizing for not being as clear as I meant to be and you having to type up a multi-paragraph tirade in response to it.....

Eh big lengthy responses are my thing. Frankly I already had a post mostly written about how they constantly do the "are you chicken McFly?" thing with us and you just gave me a concrete example to work with.

Doing things the hard way for the sake of doing things the hard way and then wondering why we don't have more success is easily my biggest pet peeve of Aggie culture.

quote:

But there is a percentage (maybe it’s really small, I don’t know I can only go off of what I anecdotally notice) of people that are just plain scared of losing to them again. I know this because they’ll say it in person, you won’t find many online in the internet land of badasses, but several people have told me during casual football conversation that it’s the reason why they don’t want to play tu again. And I disagree with it.

Two thoughts on that:

1. They have mostly beaten us historically, and in the times when we could stay even or do better than them they always push for some change in the playing field that pulls the rug from under our success. They never play fair, and they won't ever probably. Most people realize that.

2. I don't think anyone is really scared of playing programs that are likely to beat us, or you would have more people pushing to go back to the Big 12. Instead I think people are sick of being measured by a yardstick that makes us look bad even if we go on a historic winning streak.

Frankly I think these Aggies have reasonable goals in mind for the program. The ones who want to play chicken with Texas are the ones I am scared of, because they have some delusion that if we played them and beat them we would get recognized as the premier team in the state when this fricking front-running sport doesn't work that way.

A great example of that is USC vs Clemson. Earlier in the decade USC ripped off this nice streak on Dabo and for a while lived the dream many Aggies want to live with Texas. But then Clemson won a national title and suddenly USC was living in a shadow and all those years of victories don't mean dick. Only national success does.

Before we play Texas again on a regular basis we need to prove our worth in the situation we are in (aka win a SEC or national title) and then go and play Texas as equals.

We will never get the respect we so desire simply by beating them, we have to earn it ourselves and playing them only makes that outcome less likely to happen.

One or both schools would have to redo all their contracts w/P5 schools for the next 10 years for this to work. He knows this isn't going to happen. This is an incredibly cheap attempt at getting some good PR. I say this as even as a person who never wanted it to end and wants the game back ASAP.

Fantastic example.

Indeed, a superb example of why playing this game has zero tangible benefits for A&M. We get much more exposure and further our national relevance when we schedule and compete with other power 5 out of conference teams.

Remove the S from the https protocol. For images, this site doesn't play nice with secure protocols. (just use https:// instead of https://).

It's strange. I removed the "s" but I still don't see it in my post but I see it in yours. Oh well, I won't clutter the board with "how to" messages. Thanks

I see what you did wrong now. You posted a link to the imgur site instead of a direct link to the picture.
