I think so too.
But, if it's true, I don't think it means mid-season the way everyone seems to be reading it. Rather, the deal itself would be worked out in principle now and kept under wraps. Kevin Wilson knows he's toast and Mangino is at Iowa State. Either of those guys would 100% pick up the phone if we offered them and agree in principle right now to a deal TBA after the final game of the regular season.

Looks like Mangino got the axe. Is he really someone we would want to hire?

While at Kansas, Mangino led the Jayhawks to 19 consecutive weeks ranked in the AP and/or USA Today polls (2007–08), 20 wins in a 2-year period for the first time in school history, set home attendance average records in each of the last 4 seasons (2004–2008), led KU to its first appearance in national polls since 1996 and to the school’s highest ranking ever at #2, produced the top 3 total offense seasons in school history, the top two passing seasons and two of the top three scoring seasons and won three Bowl games—the same number they had won in their 102-year history combined prior to his arrival.
Mangino is a freakin genius.
He's the reason Bob Stoops won a Natty.
The reason why he isn't still coaching at KU or coaching somewhere better is because he's an ENORMOUS (no pun intended) jerk. A titanically (no pun intended) mean person, to everyone, who scares people. Which, given our situation with disrespectful little brats who want to backtalk their 30 year old nice-guy coordinator, might not be a bad thing...

If the rumors were true about him bullying players while he was the Kansas HC, no way.
Especially with SJW's practically running colleges (even at conservative A&M there are enough of them to cause more turmoil than its worth).

Mangino will now no doubt lump in Kipp with the 1 percent of KU players who don't "appreciate" his style of coaching, which style includes: taunting a kid for having an alcoholic father; threatening to send a guy back to St. Louis, where he could get shot with his "homies"; threatening to send another guy back to Oakland, where he could spend the rest of his life "drinking out of a brown paper bag"; poking and grabbing players and occasionally making them crawl across 200 degree turf for the grievous crime of missing a weigh-in.

Ha, it's not just players. The dude's as mean and uncouth as a junkyard dog. He actually got fired from his first HS coaching job for the same sort of thing.

That's over the line?
Don't we celebrate a previous coach for basically doing the same thing?

Yeah. I believe his demise was started when he yelled at a parking attendant at Kansas. He has anger issues and that won't fly here.

Agree. Besides all the bullying stuff, I just don't see how players can take a coach seriously who is probably a buck fifty over the morbidly obese mark.

Mangino would be an awesome hire

I agree.
My point was that colleges are run by SJW's who criticize football programs for full-contact workouts. If they're that whiney about nothing, how upset would they be over a real gripe such as hiring a bully?
