Read this elsewhere also. Says Riley wants to wait to talk after TCU's playoff run.

Here's the quote.

This person was told that Riley is not going to A&M and the person telling them would have really good knowledge of the situation.

I am not going off my optimism horse right now
I hope we get someone good.

So now it's spreading like fire that its Petrino

Looch on TA radio this morning talking about Riley timing and looking at head job did not mesh. Grimes is looking for head job when he leaves baylor.
Saying Petrino is a possibility but not the only candidate or "the guy".
Saying 1 or 2 other guys that he is holding back that would be "known" guys. TIFWIW

The type of hire we should have expected from Jimbo, what a let down. Hopefully not true.

Apparently he's interviewing this weekend

What? You're not excited about the coach whose team scored the 57th most TDs in FCS football this year?

So the up and comers have all said thanks but no thanks and we are on to the retreads and glad to be here types?

Someone on Petrinos side must have leaked it to make him look better, I just don’t see how the higher ups would force Jimbo to fire Dickey to hire a “real OC” to turn around and hire someone like Petrino.

Hope your right, this has gotten golden parachute as you ride off into the sunset ala Third and Chavis written all over it.

also expect the OC hire to leak soon. Y’all are gonna like it.

This also means we probably have made a hire at OC.
There's a reason Owens, other 2023 skill position guys and a bunch of offensive portal players are suddenly interested again.

The OC hire will leak by Friday at the latest. Jimbo interviewed him Monday.
Curious which of these statements you still stand by.
Petrino's name leaked today, then Liucci went into denial mode.

Can someone explain why we're supposed to hate a possible petrino hire? I get that he sucked this year in the FCS, but the guy has had statistically successful offenses in the past. Is the freakout really just over the motorcycle accident/cover up?
The only reason I don't like him is because he never beat Saban. There's also the fact that he wasn't very popular with his players. I remember that his offenses at Arkansas were predicated on precision and discipline. IIRC, guy would literally measure a receivers strides and time where players had to be at any given moment. It sounds great on paper, but awful when going up against the smart DCs.
He wouldn't be an awful hire, but he's definitely not the guy that'll make us national championship contenders.

My biggest problem with Petrino is that his offense is also complex, like Fisher’s. We definitely don’t need that

Have we considered just letting Weigman draw routes on the ball with his finger between plays playground style? Would be a lot cheaper.

He's proven himself to be an absolute piece of shite with extremely poor judgment, what more reason do you need?
Under the very best of circumstances, this would be a very questionable hire.
With the circus Jimbo has going on under his watch, with the entire sport's eyes on on his every move, it's almost unbelievable that this would be the Jimbo's choice to save his career.

I think you answered your question.

I’m gonna celebrate any OC hire as long as Jimbo turns over play calls

I would not hate it at all. Not on my wish list but it would be a good hire. Anyone that doesn't like Petrino's offenses hasn't watched them.

I might rather have Chad. At least he'd show up with a chip on his shoulder.
