I have a hard time seeing Fisher hire Riley as well. Grimes I could see.

Things go at different speeds for different reasons, but if it's really Grimes (and all the rumors about advanced talks having taken place for the past month), I'm a little surprised it hasn't already been announced.

Need to have all hands on deck asap to deal with retaining the talent on campus and starting to build out the recruiting class.

Why Grimes? I don't get his hype. Statistically speaking, he has not been that impressive at Baylor. Just go after Riley for fricks sake! It's the obvious choice. Grimes had a few good seasons at BYU because he had a really good QB. Outside of that, he hasn't achieved anything worthwhile. It's not that hard .

While we are at it, we should rehaul our strength and conditioning program. Hire Kaz Kazadi. The guy managed to get a bunch of 3 star players to compete at Baylor and now he's done the same at TCU. That dude can turn boys into men.

Agree that he's not the slam dunk hire some appear to make him out to be. But he has some very good seasons at run game coordinator at LSU (1st, 1st and 5th in conference in YPC his last 3 years at LSU from 2015-2017).

Amd I think his approach meshes a little better with Jimbo's nature than Riley from TCU.

And I think there should be some serious concern that Riley has not done anything as OC apart from Sonny Dykes (who is a great offensive mind himself). Not saying he won't be successful apart from Dykes, but it's not a given either.

Best thing about Grimes as OC would be that it almost guarantees Addazio would be gone as OL coach.

Also I didn't know Grimes got a masters from A&M while a GA under Slocum.

Well I don’t know that you have to get rid of Addazio but I agree Grimes OL background is of value. No reason you can’t effectively have 2 OL coaches.

Also agree his offense fits better with Fisher’s philosophy.

Agreed, I think it's like Christainsen a few years back, it's a one year experiament that didnt work out. Supposedly Addazio was only a one year contract anyways so you dont have to "fire him", just dont renew it. Have heard talk that he's been in and out of the hospital with some health issues this year and that his son was doing a lot of the coaching.

And from a premium post a buddy sent this morning, according to BL: "What I've heard thus far is that Jimbo has zeroed in on a handful of targets and conversations have been taking place this week already. The most interesitng news its that it's being understood that Fisher is making it clear whoever he hires will be calling the plays on Saturday." Goes on later to say "once a new hire is made, he will work with the new OC to determine the direction of the offensive staff"

So while nothing definitive, sounds really promising and exactly what most Aggie fans were praying for after this abomination of a season.

We got there in the most excruciating way possible, but if you told me at the start of the season that we would have an actual OC and Weigman as an experienced QB heading into 2023, I would be have been on cloud nine.

Feels more and more like it's either Longo or Riley and we'll be waiting until both teams play Saturday to find out which one is

At this point, I don't even think we have to change much offensively. It's just Jimbo giving up the play calling and letting an OC take over from the booth. He can't get a feel for the game flow anymore. Adjustments from the booth are critical and Jimbo is doing too much from the sidelines to know what's going on (the dude is calling plays, screaming at officials, screaming at our QBs, watching our defense, watching special teams, etc....that's just too much for one person to do).

A lot of our issues came down to our O-linemen. The run game would have worked tremendously well if we had competent linemen who were well coached. Being on the road and seeing our linemen guess our play because they couldn't communicate in loud environments was extremely frustrating. And when they had the play down, they were either too slow or too undisciplined to open gaps or make blocks (tight ends too seemed underwhelming).

The offensive line needs to change! At this point, I just need to see Adazzio get replaced and a new Strength and Conditioning coach come on board. I said it once and I'll say it again; go get Kaz Kazadi from TCU. The guy will get our players in shape. He has a history of turning small/undersized offensive linemen into work horses. Art Briles used to recruit guys who lacked the size but had good technique. Then he would let Kazadi work his magic. If we can look past DJ Durkin's past, then surely we can hire Kazadi.

The Tar Heels are just days away from squaring off against Clemson in the ACC championship game, and this game feels like it could be Phil Longo’s audition to keep his job as the offensive coordinator for the Tar Heels. Whether or not that is factual in the eyes of Mack Brown is unclear, but how in the world does an offense go from red hot to scoring just 17 points against Georgia Tech, and 24 points against NC State (in regulation)? For a team that scored 32 points in their loss against Notre Dame, isn’t this a huge red flag? While the defense hasn’t been perfect themselves, the recent struggles on the offensive side of the ball have transpired due to weird play-calling, the offensive line crumbling, and to be completely fair, a little bit of bad luck

Grimes, Longo are both hated by their fan bases. Kind of crazy with how highly rated those offenses are.

I wouldn't mind Longo tbh, but Grimes ( ) isn't who I want.

Grimes would be just mediocre and we can't settle for mediocre - so Longo is the best choice.

I think we're one of the best landing spot for good OC's

I saw Longo's offensive ranks posted somewhere anf for the last 5 years its been in the top 25 every time and top 10 several times. With a quick google search, they scored 30+ points in every game this year except three: Miami, Georgia Tech, and NC State. Two of those were 27 points, only the GT game was 17 (probably because they still run the ball a lot and limit time of posssession? didnt care to look too much into it). I'm sure some will say its the ACC and weaker competition, but literally anything has to be an improvement over games like 14 on App st, 23 on Arky, etc...

If their fanbase thinks thats bad, by all means fire him and lets scoop him up on the rebound. If they think they've seen bad offense, they havent seen what we've dealt with between Fisher, Spavital, and Mazzone the last decade.

Not sure where they are coming from, but I guess there are rumors out there that Nick Williams would be a potential staff hire for Deion if he takes the Colorado job

Apparently Jimbo has his candidates picked out and has made it clear to them that they’ll have full control of the offense
Hinted at Riley or Longo

Not saying he's wrong, but that is just standard Liucci sunshine.
